Single best player I've seen has to be Hoddle.

Ardiles was pretty tasty at the time too.

They used to say that Hoddle never played for England as well as he did for Spurs, but it was generally recognised at the time that was probably because Spurs' midfield was at least a class above England's!

And, he wasn't picking regularly enough, with confidence, and allowed to do his thang, rather than being pulled apart by the press because he didn't combine his sublime skills with the defence qualities of Beckenbauer

I have two ( is that allowed) Hoddle was a genius on the ball, and the other Greaves was the best goalscorer i have ever seen.

Too young to have watched Hoddle live.

Gazza was the genius for me. Pure excitement and brilliance everytime I saw him play. I never saw Linekar play well when at the stadium. Bad luck I guess.

Easy - Greavsie.
Some of the goals I saw him score, I've never seen anything like since.

Berba. Not only how fantastic he was, but the fact he was clearly miles better than the rest and followed on directly from a period of dark days. Watching Berba for us in that first season was like a little sign saying "don't worry, everything is going to be ok!"

I never got to see Hoddle unfortunately, what kind of player these days is he similar to.
I know he's a different position but was he better than say Berbatov on his day was for us or Ginola?

Quite simply, for me he was Zidane-esque so far as his role in the side, he had brilliant passing range with either foot, was worth 12-18 goals a season, controlled the ball better than anyone I'd ever seen, could dictate the pace of a game and showed occasionally that he could also tackle. Different to Berba but yes, better, and the same with Ginola. I think Hoddle was the finest player I have ever seen and will ever see. He was poetry. Oh how England fucked that up...

I was just 5 when we had Gazza and by the time I had any real appreciation of football Mabbutt was on his way down.

There are a few contenders. Ledley King and Judas were both at one point the best centre back on the planet while with us. Sheringham and Keane both provided so many great years and so much magic (though I hold Sheringham in slightly higher esteem). Klinsmann gave us an unbelievable year, the best of his career, and then returned to give us a few more superb memories (I was at the 2-6 win over Wimbledon). Berbatov was an absolute genius up front, the only centre forward I've seen at Spurs who was capable of anything and everything. But ultimately, there was only one Ginola. He's the best crosser, dribbler and passer I've seen at Spurs, he scored so many memorable goals and he played for the fans. Bale, Modric, even VDV, they all have a way to go before they can match Ginola in my eyes.

Man, am I envious of you.

I've heard so many stories over the years about some of his goals and style.

My lucky number is 14 cos of him, i always wore the 14 cos of him & i have 14 tattoed on my wrist because of all of the above...

He was a genius, i saw 3 right backs try & deal with him once for everton at whl in the first 34 minutes...

Above all he loved spurs & that means everything, i remember being sat next to a little lad at villa park when we went there & ginola had been disgracefully sold to them when he came over to take a throw in & pointed at the cockerel on the boys shirt & said "i love your badge"...he was playing for villa!!!...graham ripped out his heart :(

Genius
