Yay, the Joe Allen appreciation club grows stronger with each day. Soon, soon....

But yes, maybe undervalued him in today's market. Swansea aren't exactly rich but they're not in debt or anything and he's a local lad I think. Might not be so easy to just waft any old offer under their noses for him.

Now watch as assnal get him for £5m + Yossi Benayoun.

benayoun still belongs to chelsea.

Hope so. If we just try to replace Modric with THudd (much as I think he can offer something valuable to the squd, sto giggling BC) or something and stick to the same system, the difference will be marked and detrimental, imo.

We have a system?! Fuck me pink. I hadn't really noticed.

Benayoun is under contract with Chelsea.

But I agree with Bill_Oddie, 8-10 is a freakin bargain and if Arsenal gets him they'll have two of Britains most talented young midfielders. Oxlade, Allen and Pogba are, in my eyes, the three most exciting young midfielders in the PL (other than Bale and whatnot).

That Sigurdsson fella too. Hoffenheim are only after about £10m I think. All the guy does is link midfield with attack seemlessly and hit the target with every shot he takes. Be a nice player to rotate in and out of the team with Rafa.

But anyways, I'm off now. Dry your eyes. I'll stop waffling on about my footballing wet-dreams. We have even signed Vertonghen yet FFS.

:ROFLMAO:

Rotation. Why would we want to do that? It's not like it would help stop the team capitulating after February each year.

Football is a simple game. Ask Sir Alex Ferguson he doesn't rotate, why would he need to, oh wait....

For me football at the moment is leaning towards deep-playmakers. Like Pirlo, Schweinstieger Lampard has done it, Xavi has dropped into it, believe it or not Yaya Toure as well, ad of course Scholes.

If you watch football these days how man players tackle? I remember watching Bilbao's Europa League campaign and their midfield worked hard and work the ball back alot, but more through "nicking" the ball than the kind of tackling you'd associate with Vieria, Keane and Parker.

So maybe losing Modric would force our hand into adopting this role. Huddlestone if he could get fitness and form back would be perfect for this role. An outside shout would be van der Vaart, the role he plays behind the striker is slowly being phased out I think and he is good enough to do what Schweinstieger has done.

SO yeah I think selling Modric (as much as I want to keep him as he is an excellent player) could work in our favour and force us to re-jig the CM into a 3 of Huddlestone, Sandro and VDV, or maybe Parker, Huddlestone and VDV (maybe a bit slow?)

Joe Allen is a great prospect, I think he should stay at Swansea for now. James McCarthy at Wigan though needs a move and I think could develop into a fantastic CM he has had a good season in a not so great Wigan team.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Dembele who is utter class, his finishing is not the best and if you thinK Ade isnot a good finisher..Dembele will make you sad. But my mate goes Fulham every week and has a great eye for players and told me about Dembele being moved to CM and how much he wins the ball and his close control.

Dembele would be a really impressive signing for us, this guy is utter class and only 23 and can play in so many positions.

Most laughed at the mention of Joe Alen on here a couple of months back. Sure, he's not Modric but he's done a fuckton more in the prem at 21 than Modric ever had. Will he be another Modric type - that influential, that skillful? Maybe not but there's a reasonable possibility that he could become one or at least on a comparable level.

18 months to go yet until he reaches the age Modric was when he joined us. At his age, in the right club and caoching environment he could improve a hell of a lot.

EDIT: I'm an illiterate plum.

I never laughed!!

If we sold Modric and bought Sigurdsson I wouldn't be too unhappy. Looks like the new Lampard to me, 20 goals from midfield if he played a whole season like he did the second half of last.

i heard to Joe Allen rumour; but apparently arsenal never got a reply because Huw Jenkins still hasnt stopped laughing. from what im told the bid was less than £5million. rumours were about £3m or £4m.

I know he managed it with Begovic, but I'm not sure even Levy could manage to sell players we don't own (both are now free agents).

Ok then. Gallas and King as 5th and 6th choice CBs. Both on £60k+ pw. Verts' wages also added to our wage bill.

Do you want this, or would you rather we could afford Ade, Leandro and Remy etc?

I'd consider it objectively (rather than sentimentally) and decide King is sadly no longer worth the wages. I'd sacrifice a 6th high earning CB to fund wages for a 2nd or 3rd forward.

vertongen, kaboul, King Dawson and Gallas =5 caulker will go back on loan. Kaboul + gallas make the need for a RB to cover Walker less of an issue.

King will prove that he's still the best after this op and a summer rest. He'll still be needed in the very biggest games next season. Well worth the money. Gallas and Dawson to be sold/let go before Ledley in my opinion

dembele and allen would be the two players i'd be looking at to replace modric.
I'd prefer Sandro ahead of either of those. Not that I have anything against either player but I think Sandro is going to be a hell of a player. If we sell Modric I would go for more steel in the middle with Sandro and Parker and use the money on a striker and wide right attacker.
