I don't know. Carrick and Berbatov never really replicated their form for us again in the league. So if a player is just going to move on to become a disappointment, anybody's millions will do. ;)

But modric in my opinion is world class, and would easily fit in to any midfield.

Berbatov - Very Good player but moody and has ego issues, plus in his defence he was bought and put into a system that doesnt suit him and was destined to fail, he is not a complete lone man figure (people may mention is 20 goals last season most were against lower end teams and included 5 goals and a hatrick against relegation opposition)

Carrick - Good player at best - he looked great in the spurs team then, small pond etc....

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but are the Belgium squad in England now or are they arriving later? as for a day when Vertonghen is supposed to be having his medical, it sure is quiet so far... :(

If Vertonghen doesn't score a belter of a free kick against England then rips off his Belgium shirt to reveal the new Spurs top, I'll be very disappointed.

Brilliant way to reveal the new Under Armour strip! None of this namby-pamby photoshoot nonsense.

He could score a few and reveal the new away, third and 'keeper tops as well...

Modric will work in that United side, he'll be a much bigger success than those two, albeit Carrick has just had a decent season and Berbatov doesn't fit into Fergie's ideology (begs the question why the spent 30 million on him)

Personally I would much prefer he went abroad.

Me too. But realistically, it's United or Madrid it seems. And at the end of the day, if we are honest with ourselves, sadly him going to United is fairly meaningless to us. It's not like Modric going to United means they might finally finish above us. Or that for once in 20 years, United will finally beat Spurs.

Definitely (though I'd see it more of de Jong or Leandro + Remy or Affelay).

Providing we got Ade too, two of those four would properly sort our attack.

This is the sort of thing that would have happened in our previous transfer policy's. Under Redknapp we have had one window as busy and effective as that and even then we were seeing the likes of Keane Defoe and Crouch coming in. Under Harry we are very unlikely to see that many players come in that 1. aren't already in the prem or 2. under 30 years old.

Really? I thought he did it by ripping off and exploiting the Russian people by buying industries at fraction of their prices with other peoples money? Like all those Russian oligarchs did in the 90's. They are criminal scum, just happen to be in a place where the rule of law is rather open to interpretation.

All these things are true...but he did it sober which is worse!!
ps He can't be a criminal because he has bought immunity by wangling his way into becoming an MP.

It sets a pattern though and firmly cements us, certainly in the short and medium terms, to being their bunnies. I know we're not there yet and there's still plenty of work to do but the ultimate goal is to compete seriously with them and maybe, in time, even overtake them. Selling them more of our star players not only hinders that, it would be a self-inflicted wound.

It's not just about our ego either. Every single player with aspirations who would join would know that we view ourselves as a stepping stone and act accordingly. You could say, Modric, even after 4 yrs of not selling major players to Yanited etc, demonstrates that. There was no hard choice for him, a switch was instantly flipped.

DL acted like a stubborn mule last summer for good reason. I simpy can't see him throwing all that away, especially so soon after. If it's a case of £40m from yanited or £35m from Real or Milan, £35m from a foreign club everytime for me. I think that maybe DL sees that too now.

We might gain £5m in the short term but other costs would be felt for yrs and would be fundemental.

From what I've seen on youtube the yout look's a lot like Pav.

Which is not a bad ting. Pav was a good player for mans.

Let's just hope his work rate is like Parkers. Get me.

Glad I'm not the only one to think this. I thought he looked like Pav with the tenacity and running of Kuyt. Good combo!

i think its because it has come from a trusted source and therefore can be given some credence unlike speculation in newspapers. it is the authenticity not the exclusivity that makes it ITK.

To stop us progressing - Fergie obviously saw us as a big threat.

I think we missed a trick with Eurovision. Could have revealed the new shorts by doing a Bucks Fizz and getting Engelbert to whip a skirt off and reveal them. Would have doubled up as an obscure-but-nevertheless-important point about the unfairness of being forced into the Europe League despite finishing fourth.
