But modric in my opinion is world class, and would easily fit in to any midfield.

Berbatov - Very Good player but moody and has ego issues, plus in his defence he was bought and put into a system that doesnt suit him and was destined to fail, he is not a complete lone man figure (people may mention is 20 goals last season most were against lower end teams and included 5 goals and a hatrick against relegation opposition)

Carrick - Good player at best - he looked great in the spurs team then, small pond etc....

4 titles in 6 years for Carrick........I would say he's more than a good player. Still a very good player IMO.

Would a manager really spend £30m on a player just to derail a club he sees as potentially being a threat? Despite the fact he'd seen off bigger threats than us over his 25+ years as manager?

Carrick's a good player, but he's hardly been a key cog in their 4 league titles in 6 seasons, has he? There's a reason Fergie had to bring back 37 year old Paul Scholes out of retirement, I suppose is one way of looking at it.

As each day goes by, I get a feeling we won't be getting anyone in for a long time....

....but everytime I log on I get a little excited thinking I will see a stamp picture..

I might be wrong as my memory is getting a little hazy in my old age......but didn't United generally have 11 men on the pitch throughout most of those season??

I think Carrick is very underrated personally - you don't play the amount of games for a side like United without possessing quality and totally agree with Blake and BC in that he should be nailed on to start for England next to Parker.

This is the sort of thing that would have happened in our previous transfer policy's. Under Redknapp we have had one window as busy and effective as that and even then we were seeing the likes of Keane Defoe and Crouch coming in. Under Harry we are very unlikely to see that many players come in that 1. aren't already in the prem or 2. under 30 years old.

What, like summer 2008? What a roaring success that was, eh?

Remind me, just how many of the Comolli-Ramos signings are still key members of the squad?

Comes to something when the sum total of England's central midfield ability could be whittled down to Scott Parker and Michael Carrick as being a preferred pair!

The mind boggles. Plenty of sideways/backwards passing a go go - zero incisiveness in the attacking third.
