Re: Sherwood

"He is our DOF. Just the i's to be dotted on the contract. Responsible for all football matters from youth through to 1st team. New coach will have to work with him. TS has impressed everyone at the club and plenty of people outside the club have also taken note. "
I'm going to have to ask this question every time a new person is mentioned from SO or COYS. Is this guy respected as an ITK?

Guy has only had 2 managerial jobs, what else are people going to reference? His building block days at nursery?

When did I say they should reference something else? I said people are hyping up his porto days, and then I went on to explain why I felt like this. Read what I actually said it makes perfect sense.

Some people on this forum really do quote and argue for the sake of it without seeming to actually read.

You make good points there.

I still doubt how likely a guy is to tell his players to celebrate with him. I still say that Portugal is an underestimated league with some big players playing in it. No it isn't one of the 4 best but its in the top 5. I don't think you can write off winning a quadruple with Porto because it wasn't with a German, Italian, Spanish or English club.
It's true that concerns shouldn't be shouted down but what manager comes without concerns?
Age is a particularly shallow concern.
Should Rooney not have played for England at 17?

Maybe he didn't.

What he did in Portugal was tremendous. I don't write off that achievement at all.

They all have concerns some less than others.

In management it's not a shallow concern. The age Rooney PLAYED at has NOTHING to do with 34 year old managers. If you wanna discuss Rooney that's summink completely different. BUT in management it's not very common at all, far less common than 17 year olds playing internationally. But like I said Rooney has nothing to do with anything.

How many managers have previously managed in the prem at 34? Any? It doesn't mean he'll fail and if he becomes manager i'll back him completely. But most management is based on experience and communication. Most managers hit their peak in their 40s or 50s some even later. Again it doesn't mean he'll fail. BUT it is a legitimate concern and he's the only serious candidate it can be levelled at. It shouldn't be dismissed as shallow just because you want him in. Thankfully Levy will be more objective - I doubt he'll consider Rooney's international career when deciding at least...

Deadwood shouldn't be anywhere near the club. Shit player and has nothing about him.

With him and AVB In the most important positions at the club I dispair I really do.

Spurs have fucked it again!

Dear oh dear.

You know more about TS and his influence at the club than Daniel Levy do you?

Cheers JJ

Sherwood looks to have been retained in some capacity. What the official title of the role is we dont know, but it looks like he'll be involved in maybe youth developement, the new acadamey, player recruitment. Maybe a player liaison officer.

But as JJ has said, numerous times, Levy doesnt want a DOF. A DOF would have a lot more responsibility than Sherwood would have INMO.
