anyone caught the conversation between JJ and Transfer_ITK1

hilarious
without wishing to drag this too far off topic, yes I have. Transfer_ITK1 is a blatant troll hoping to leach info off JJ.

dragging this post back on topic... Nice to see JJ back up Pottles info, but I wonder: why am I so underwhelmed about the prospect of signing France's number one and captain?

Re Lloris on COYS (apologies if posted)

Can confirm now in discussions regarding transfer, AVB believes he will be the #1 for years to come, buys into Daniel's philosophy of buying for now and the future as the player is only 25, and obviously Brad can't go on forever and Carlo as the #2 obviously is nearing the end of his career. Not much more to add at this stage.

i have not seen a great deal of Lloris if i am honest. He did nothing at the Euros to suggest he was that great but i hear a lot of people rate him highly so am willing to trust their judgement

I do think maybe Tim Krul might be a better / safer option

That's what I thought.

With Charlie having gone and Rose likely to be let go (and not really up to standard IMO), if we let Naughton go then we need cover at both left and right fullback so it would seem a strange decision to me.

As for Smith, the highest level he's played at is in the Championship and even that was for only 3 games (according to Wikipedia). I'm not sure he's ready to suddenly cover both sides of our defence.

I don't say he is ready, merely that he is a better prospect. Huge huge difference.

Norwich are a lower mid table team, Tottenham are not so a player good enough for lower mid table supporters is not necessarily good enough for a top 4 side.

Not sticking his neck on the line and waiting for someone else to confirm it.

I have been on here long enough to know if POTL, JJ or Peanut say something it is very accurate.

You need to realise that some ITKs might not want to reveal information to early for fear that their cover is blown.

true, but much rather go for friedel another season and try to sign krul next year
or sign Lloris this year, before the world knows we need a goalie desperately. Krul already signed a new contract, so he's off limits this summer. Next summer, who knows but then everyone knows Spurs need one.

He will also undoubtedly carry a £20million plus price tag so it's not a viable option for me.

This could be a disaster. Friedel has done well to play until his 41. His reactions are going to slow down considerably any day now and if it is half way through the season we would be f*cked!

He is safe and steady and nothing more.

Agree he may be a safer option but i reckon Newcastle will want stupid money for him, in excess of £20 million probably

Why is everyone all of a sudden not so excited by Lloris? Is it because you watched the one game against England and thought he should have dealt with the cross that led to Lescott's goal? Lloris has been a top top keeper for a few years now, is captain of the French team and their number 1. If he comes here a few of you will be looking rather silly.

Lloris is an absolute beast of a keeper. We'd do superbly to get him in. I do really highly rate Krul but he'd probably be somewhat reluctant to leave Newcastle seeing as he's been there for years, and Newcastle'd want an arm and a leg anyhow.

I tell you what, if we do get him, Moutinho and Adebayor done, I'd say we've had the best squad in my lifetime. And that's without any possible other improvements we could make.

Future's bright.

Lloris is a top goalkeeper and at 25 he's got plenty of years ahead of him. I for one am excited at his potential arrival, I know some people won't agree with every signing we make but it's vitally important he get behind them from day 1.

I agree. I like Friedel as he's been reliable and seems like he'd be a good character in the dressing room (something I think Harry was very good at developing at our club). However as you say, his age is only going to affect him at increasingly fast pace.

Cudicini might be good for another year or two, whilst Gomes would only stay if he's number 1, but unfortunately he's too unreliable and unconfident.
