Playing today vs. Manchester City. Great challenge for a young guy with all of their movement off the ball.

I missed the first goal of the match, but Zabaleta just had a run that came right behind Rose and he did not react quick enough and Zabaleta had a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper but was denied. Rose then made a sliding tackle in the box and the ball went to one of his defenders but was spoiled. Looked like Rose fell asleep and didn't account for Zabaleta on the initial chance.

Huge clearance by Danny Rose off the line on goal.

Strong header. Hard to get a read on his performance. Some really nice plays, and a couple really terrible ones as well.

Really impressed with Danny Rose #safc tonight. Quick, energetic, delivers a decent ball, still or moving.

Missed the match, but as stated previously, he's been nothing short of great this season. I don't understand why more don't rate him. He had a couple of bad moments against Sterling early in the season and that's what some of his doubters harp on. Even if we don't view him in our long-term plans, he's definitely helped his value A TON.

I've been watching some of Sunderlands games lately, and he has been very impressive indeed. I'm very happy for him, and hope he manages to keep his good form up. If he does, he could become an important player for us next season.

Granted, I haven't watched him this season but for us I always found him average technically and he constantly made poor decisions.Unless he has improved dramatically I don't see him unsurping BAE, so this loan will at least raise his value for when we sell him on in the summer.

Danny actually looks like a BAE in the making. Good defensively already and improving rapidly - as we know he's no slouch when attacking. He has still much to learn to get the same standard as the top left backs in the EPL but getting there.

Our problem is will he want to be understudy to BAE?

I've read alot of interviews where he said he should be playing first team football at his age so I guess not. I think we'll sell Rose and get that Fryers lad in from Standard Liege.

Danny is between a rock and a hard place. Too good for reserves and not quite ready for a top four side. He might do well to do another loan IF he wants to play for Spurs.

see what I did there :D

Biggest area of improvement that he's shown this season in my estimation. It was on full display against Fulham a couple weeks back. He made a key sliding tackle at the edge of the box and then he made an absolutely picture-perfect sliding tackle from behind on a counter that Fulham looked to have set up beautifully. I've been impressed time and again with his ability to get into correct position and also be able to not only consistently complete standing tackles but also sliding tackles as well.

Trouble with that type of 'good' IMO tackle, is the player is totally reliant on the referees interpretation of what 'he' deems a good tackle - that's bloody frightening with some ref's.

If he maintains a high premier league level over a whole season, he can bloody well give us one as back up next year. He was never going to break through all that young given his technical and stature limitations, so if we get him his breakthrough premier league season at age 22, we've done everything we promised, and he can pay us back like Naughton is doing now.

Fryers seems to have made 6 appearances for Standard Liege thios season - had difficulty in getting inti the team - and then had a knee problem in early November and hasn't made an appearance since. Unlikely we would want him in Janmuary (he's lless experienced than Rose and a number of other of our development players who aer on the fringes of the Spurs first team squad.
IMO Spurs will watch and see if Fryers lives up to expectations before deciding if we want to buy him.

I'm a big advocate for Danny Rose. I've made that known in just about every conversation he's been brought up. He's gotten better and better as the season has worn on, and that's exactly what you want to see out of a guy getting his first crack in the 'big league.'

However, there is some options at LB that we have been 'linked' to recently. Massadio Haidara (French, 20 years old, LB for AS Nancy) and a guy that we could potentially be interested in is Lucas Digne (French, 19 years old, Lille). It's very hard to find young LBs that are ready to perform at a high level. These guys (Rose included) are all doing very well, at young ages, in competitive leagues. It'll be interesting to see where we invest our future in the position; will it be Rose or via a transfer addition?

Sunderland are really playing so poorly but Rose always seems to do well. As is the case again in the first half today.

I've seen Danny Rose a few times this season for Sunderland, and he's generally been very good - a lot of the time their best player.

Today he's been nothing short of excellent, defending very well and getting foward superbly. He's changing defence into attack for them frequently.

He's just attempted a volley similar to the one in the NLD, fabulous technique - a high ball dropping out of the air again.

Starting this thread so we can discuss his progress because I've been impressed with him this season, we could really of used him as well.

He could still have a future with our squad albeit Benny is our number one.
