Bilbao have this unofficial policy where they only sign Basques so Ade....no.
Of course. For some reason I was thinking Llorente was at Athletico Madrid not Bilbao! By the way loving your avatar.

- I know for a fact that Llorente has turned us down twice
- Wesley S was never a target. We made no contact.
- Heard we are looking at Alvaro Negredo.
- And that AVB doesn't get on with Benny
Maher wouldn't be a squad player, he's one for the future, but you're not gonna alienate him if you don't play him straight away.I disagree, I don't think our starting 11 is strong enough to consider signing squad players. If we signed a worldy like Sneijder, Moutinho they would go straight in at the expense of 2nd striker/Dempsey. Moutinho is a bit trickier because he fills the same position that Dembele is playing but even pushing Dembele further up would give us a much better starting 11.
foriegn players are ok!...no spanish other than basques. .. i think john aldridge played for bilbaoBilbao have this unofficial policy where they only sign Basques so Ade....no.
Thing is, any DOF is gonna have to go through Levy anyway, so he might as well have someone doing the job unofficially for small money like Sherwood and carry on as we are.
I'm wondering where we are gonna fit any 'big' new midfielder into our system. Dembele/Sandro picks itself. The wings are covered, and we're trying to get our strikers playing together. Throw in Parker, Dempsey and Sigurdsson who aren't gonna want to get zero game time and where does a Moutinho or Sneijder actually fit in, without disrupting things. Villas-Boas strikes me as a 'team' man and is unlikely to discard one of our starters just to accomodate a Levy signing, is he? (Witness, Lloris, sure he was wrong not to bring him in ASAP but he showed loyalty to a player in good form who'd not let him down: Brad).
So Moutinho arrives, he's his boy, he'll fit him in. Eriksen or Sneijder? I can see Eriksen on the bench and I guess one of our strikers would drop out for a Sneijder type.
So where am I going here? Well, 'someone' just tweeted 'Maher'; they forgot the goodnight, but maybe that kind of player, ie. young, given time to adapt, come into their own next year would be a preferable signing? Not gonna cry if benched a bit...
It's different this year to last. Last year it was about kicking on for the title, maybe and we needed a big push, big players and it didn't happen. Throw in the misery of the Redknapp situation and it turned to shit.
This year it's more about kicking on and getting amongst the top 4, something that we seem to be homing in on. We've shown this year that we can come back from potentially demoralising defeats, and as the season goes on, the team is playing better and better football, and there is no reason at all for us to fade or the wheels to come off post transfer window. Ironically, I think we don't need major tweaking right now, but moreso when we get to the summer, if we've secured Champions League, then it would be time to really take stock and sign the right players, especially if we lost Bale.
Anyway, we shall see...

I feel so left out
Sorry for my slowness!

Sure you'd fit in a world class player but I like the balance we're achieving recently and don't want it unnecessarily disrupted

ITK from the Fighting Cock:
I'll be over here in this corner weeping quietly at Llorente turning us down twice.

except it's bollocks - claiming all sorts of "my grandad is a ref, my mum's dad is a ref, my dad's wife is a ref, I'm a ref..."
I didn't know referees got so much info more like he's lonely and wants to validate his highly suspicious claims, to other no nonsense geordies. Dude's got an identity crisis looming.
