I can't believe we actually sold Jenas.

Sold. Like, not even a loan.

Amazing. That's made my window.

That you allowed yourselves to get excited about us potentially signing a striker is no-one's fault but your own.

Holtby is going to be quality.

Can we just all agree on one thing?

There is NO SUCH THING as "Levy Time"

It's a shame we didn't get a forward that we so desperately need. But we are still a top 7 side.

I just look at Villa and worry about our summer. Without Bale/Sandro and Dembele our team is pretty ordinary at the moment. Lose two of those and it's a big worry

yeah this 'Levy time' bollocks makes me laugh there is no such thing as a clear strategy ......if I remember correctly it came about when VDV was dumped in his hands after his move to Bayern fell through at the last miniute. Since then I think only Dempsey has been a late deal and that was because his obsession with one target whether it be LD currently or Fabiano, Moutinho etc previously leaves us scrambling around at the last minute. The only surprise for me last night was that Odemwinge didnt end up at Spurs.

Re LD

@Fernando_Duarte: The deal stalled because Inter-RS wanted more money so they would soften blow of sending 30% of fee to feeder club that still owns rights.

Ownership...
I mean I know to a degree sell on clauses exist in our leagues as well, but globally FIFA needs to BAN ownership rights and 3rd parties on players. Sold is sold, sell-on clause negotiated into the sale, ok, sure, but clubs should not have this fecking minefield to deal with.

Inter may well have been willing to sell but simply got cold feet over lack of actual profit and pulled plug. Moutinho in the summer, yes we might have dicked around too, but feck me running the 3rd party stuff was borderline criminal. Pretty sure most of us remember how Tevez came to the EPL in the first place too!!!!

Too many people making money off of a slave trade.

Now the dust has settled and I've had time to think things over I'm fairly happy with we've done.

Shifted a lot of fringe players and sent some youngsters out on loan, brought in Fryers for the furture & IMO Holtby is going to be an absolute start and the creativity we've been crying out for.

I would have been tempted to keep Townsend just so we had some pace on the bench to come on & make an impact but hopefully he gets some good game time at QPR

With Holtby the best bit of news this window is Alex Pritchard signing a new contract, this boy can play

Here's to 3 points against the Baggies Sunday

What puzzles me, is the with the new TV money coming in a the end of the season GUARANTEED, and the clear need for a striker (that we're led to believe we'll be going after in the summer), and that LD is allegedly our no1 target, and the fact tht this is his close season with no club commitments, and the supposed bid of 17mil that went in, along with the clear dearth of goals we've been scoring of late, and the fact we are in a 3 way tussle for the promised land of CL football..........I've forgotten what I was gonna say : /

.....oh yeah, why the hell didn't we just buy him now?

Oh, and if the past 2/3 transfer windows are anything to go by, we'll still be chasing Leandro fucking Damiao when he's in his 40's and pulling up trees as a club manager.

DL - 'come and be out new manager, Mr LD'

LD - 'maybe next year'

Ad infinitum

Has he signed? Is this confirmed. Not been on the official site for about an hour but yesterday the news was just the loan. No contract extension mentioned?

Wonder what Bentley is up to this morning? We really are going to be stuck with him until his contract ends

Gonna be a tough run in no doubt but if we can keep our best players fit we've every chance of top 4.

Need Ade to come back from ACN rejuvenated and hopefully Kaboul isnt too far away from playing again.

Also looking forward to seeing how Andros does at QPR hopefully he gets plenty of game time and can play a role for us next season.

Pritchard confirmed it on his own twitter, I can't copy the tweet as I'm on my phone

There were quotes from his agent saying he'd signed a 2 and half yr contract and then Pritchard himself confirmed it on his twitter.

Outside of Moutinho who was thought to be over £24 million; I don't think Leandro Negredo Willan anyone else we're really linked with would walk right into the starting lineup. We actually got a guy who should be penned right into our starting XI in Holtby at a ridiculous price.

We sit 4th in the league with the squad we have.
We are fighting for 3rd or 4th.
We are only competing against Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton.
We only have to be better than 2 of them.
Arsenal have only signed a left back.
Everton have only signed a defender from the mighty Barnsley
Chelsea have only signed Demba Ba.

What's the panic, all is basically as it was before in our little mini league.

yeah so we missed the chance the steal a march on these clubs

Debatable... and certainly not at first for sure. but if you have a strong enough squad do you even have a starting 11?! Sure some positions/players will remain mostly unchanged, but the game is about rotation and adaptability. Not blindly playing the same way week in and week out.

Man Utd completely changed their tactics and personnel around to face us and almost walked away with a smash and grab. Had they played their home style we would likely have murdered them.

But i agree the fees were ridiculous. Especially Willian... but then we say that and then want over 40m for Bale in the summer, so in the end... horses for courses.

The question I wonder is IF Bale is 99% leaving and IF Willian was seen as a good player to replace him, why didn't we find the cash (if we could have... a lot of ifs I know)... Get him in now, learn to adapt and then replace Bale in summer being able to hit the ground running.

Just a thought. Suggests to me Bale out isn't as nailed on as some people think.
