What do we recon for next season? I think if we got a top notch striker who could weigh in with 20+ goals and some wing cover then we could possibly have a go next year. Not very Spurs fan to say this i know, but what do people think? I guess it depends on if the form we are in is luck or if this is how we are now.

Fairly ok result tonight

If we're talking title challenge gonna need another midfielder as well imo. Son, Maher and Leandro ( ) would be brilliant.

Yeah agreed..........but the question wasn't that

Fair play. I think if we had a 20 goal striker on board right now we would be 2nd by a clear stretch. Maybe not challenging United but who knows. Wing cover is tricky though. We have Dempsey, Sig, Holtby, Townsend and Falque who can all do a job.

But... it doesn't necessarily mean that a 20 goal striker will make us challengers. It's so tricky to know how it would affect team morale and the way we play. We are certainly setup to be solid first and attacking (more so counter-attacking) second, so even someone like Falcao might struggle to net 20 league goals for us.

I've had faith in Levy and his sometimes frustrating transfers for God knows how long, and with the job AVB has done so far this season I have faith in him to choose who he wants to play the CF role. Gotta be looking good for Spurs.

But still... let's get CL then start jizzing ourselves about potential strikers.

I think it's pretty obvious that if we can keep Bale bring Kaboul and Sandro back into the team fully recovered and in form and add a top top draw striker who is hungry and wants to win titles we could have a serious tilt at the title.

In saying that we would need to have a brilliant run with injuries and a tone of luck, but I don't see it being out of the picture.

Sig and holtby will be a year more mature I expect a very healthy competition between the two of them the next few sseasons

Recent quote from Mancini on Dzeko:

"Dzeko, for me, is a great player. In Italy he could score more than 20 goals a season but he would cost €20 million (£17m), maybe more."

Dzeko would be a 20+ goal guy in our squad as he would get consistent time.

If we can stay in the top 4 for the next few years, it will already be good. I don't want to seem unambitious, but we have to settle in the top 4 before claming the title. Arsenal, Chelsea and even City don't do very good seasons, we won't be the only one to strenghten our squad this summer.

Osvaldo at Roma is looking for a way out after taking a penalty instead of Totti, missing, then getting death threats and the ultras turning up at training to intimidate him (how fooking prick is Italian football culture, it's like a hollywood version of England in the 80's). I rate him, i think he could score dem goals for us, 20+? Probably. £15-20m. Roma arn't playing him. What do people think of him?

Finding a 20 goal a season top notch striker won't be any easy task but if we had a RVP or a Suarez type of player we wouldn't be too far away imo.
Suarez or Rooney. Suarez will want to go to a big English PL club with a chance of trophies and playing in the CL; Rooney won't want to go abroad once he leaves Man Utd. City won't want to buy them both and neither of them will want to go to Chelsea because they'd miss out on the CL. Man Utd won't go for Suarez with VP on their books. Arsenal don't count any more. £40 million should do it :) Fuck the negativity - I recall the marquis signings of Greaves, Chivers, Peters, Ardiles, Villa, Gazza, Waddle, Klinnsman et al. Those days are on their way back.

I think that there is one marquee signing we can make, the only realistic signing who could push us to the title, and I believe (from rumour) that Levy has already offered him £130k a week.

Weve got Sig and Holtby who can cover wide now. If we can get that Marquee striker we can challenge.

I fancy sig to get 10+ next year, he seems confident now.

Totally agree! We need the goals but we also need the draw that it would create for other players, we need potential new recruits to sit up and say Holy Moly Spurs are a coming force and a place to be!

The problem is that while we need the marquee player, we need them to fit into our financial structure, buy into what we are doing and not unsettle the rest of the squad in the way that Hulk and Axel Witsel did at Zenit!

Ade doesnt suit our style play as he doesnt have a midfield like season to play off him, our style is very different and it suits defoe more atm, so we need a more skill full defoe that can pass the ball but good up top. Interesting that Falcao at porto was like Defoe as he wasnt great with his back to goal as he has been at madrid. He was great at attacking the defence and went well with AVB's counter attacking football but great when it was congested as well.

To me a striker who fits those elements and gettable would be Leandro :D. There others out there but they will be on higher wages or want a higher fee

As for the wings we got Falque and Townsend coming back who have been their teams best player for the last month
