Once you get over Bales injury the most depressing thing for me is that this wont galvanise them but from here on in they will collapse like a cheap suit

Don't want to sound negative, but if all injuries that we have had tonight turn out to be long term injuries, then I would much rather use some 'kids' to play away against Basel and to possibly blend in the first team quickly. Before tonight I wanted to win Europa because I thought we had the squad to get 4th aswell. But now.. Not so sure.

Many people predicted continuing to pursue this competition at full force would prove detrimental sooner rather than later, just the law of averages/probability when we have insufficient resources.

I'll keep saying it - he shouldn't have been on the field.

I cannot fathom the rationale that we shouldn't be playing our best players in a european quarters... And his injury was nothing to do with fatigue or an injury that was worsen over time but he was being forced to push through it. Had be been rested and we went out and he'd been only played in the league and we finished 5th would have have been a better use of our resources?

Just checked official site. 32k. That's 4k short in a Euro quarter final. Not great tbh but it's so fucking expensive at the moment it's understandable.

Cellabos for me to play or make the bench on Saturday. He's looked so lively for u21s.

AVB has to take a risk, Dempsey isn't worth the time - He was useless today

AVB just said on danish tv, that he don't think the injury is to serious regarding Bale. The ankle is swollen, but they won't know for sure until tomorrow where he will be scanned.

AVB on Bale

"He rolled on his ankle, at the moment there is a lot of pain, but hopefully not as bad as it could have been. Feeling in the tunnel here at White Hart Lane is that Gareth Bale's injury is very similar to an ankle injury he suffered before."

Yea I agree, the thing is we've never had any wide option when Bale and Lennon is out, so loaning out the next natural wide player inline Townsend was stupid in the first place. Neither Sig, Holtby, or Dempsey are natural wide players.

I'd get Ceballos or McEvoy on the bench asap, would be Pritchard first if he wasn't injured. Our wide options are looking desperate right now. We've gone from having 2 of the fastest wingers in our team of Bale and Lennon to Dempsey and Sig.

Just who is gonna step up to the plate now and carry the team over the line?

AVB has confirmed it's not a break apparently but either way it's probably a month at best.

I'll be honest here and say I agreed with it. Looking at what AVB has done so far with the young players we would have barely seen him since January and it was better for him to go out and play every week. He learns much more that way and its better for us going forward.

Hopefully Lennon isn't out for too long, and we might just be able to get by, but some of them really do need to step up to the plate now Bale is broken.
