I just can't understand putting out your best outfield team but leaving your best gk on the bench when your reserve is in his 40s.

Seriously for the life of me I can't understand it.

In a penalty shootout where reactions are key, who do you want? Your 26 yo international keeper or a guy reaching retirement? Nothing about that makes sense to me and going out on pens just makes that choice even more baffling.

We all know the striker and winger situation but at least play your best gk in the qf of the competition. Just ridiculous.

Thought we played with a lot of grit and determination and once it got to pens, well I knew that was it, I'd have to go back to early Euro 96 to rember a team I was supporting win a pen shoot out.

I'm hoping we can kick on in the PL but it's one thing being knackered but being up from a win and another being knackered and deflated from a loss.
This is where AVB will really need to earn his money to pick them up now.

Walker played well I thought. Worked his socks off down there and Holtby who was running and running and running. It's players like him who I try to be. Dawson who I love as well. He must be thinking 'fuck' after all his heartbreak. That unfortunate slip against Portsmouth and then us losing to Chelsea and then this. Hurts big time...

Let's not be too harsh on the guys slagging off our players at the moment, people react different ways in the heat of the moment. If they say the same thing when they've had time to calm down, then they are tossers ;)

On the plus side Carroll looks ready for first team football and was excellent today, may of even had a few assists with the right type of striker. Holtby also slotted into the middle a lot better today.

Sugar is a complete retard

"AVB should be fired. No tactics. Been lucky up till now with results. How can he put Huddlestone as pen taker? Then Adebayor you knew would miss."

Talk about giving a youngling some time to learn. How odl is he again? How many starts has he got? Come on

If given the choice AVB wouldn't choose to have Ade or Gallas in his squad/teams. Takes time though to build the squad he wants and also the support and trust of Levy. Has earned it now.

Ade always usually places his pens why did he change?

Probably bottled out not wanting to take one cos normally he would be first up anyway.

Why is he a bottler because he took our third penalty? Which other penalty shoot outs are you using to back up your theory that he should be first up?

Was a bad mistake but not his fault mate... Harsh on him.

We were going to win. He did an unnecessary red card challenge and from then on we never had a chance. The rest of the team did everything they could but we were doomed from that point.

I love Vertonghen as much as anyone else. But it's just hypocrisy to blame Adebayor for that defeat. We lost because we had crucial injuries, because we had a misguided goalkeeping rotation policy, because we defended like clowns at key points last week, because we underrated Basel at first, and yet we made up for all that until the red card.

forget about the EL. I am more worried about our style of playing and how to handle the game. Last year with Harry did we play the most pacey and funny fotball in the EPL. This year it have been 90% sideways.. I am not happy but i rather become 4th than play a final in Europa Leauge. And i want to find back to that fantastic fotball we have been played with pace and feelings. Now there is no movment, And when the only one that can find a offensive pass that challenge ïs Carrol i start to get worried... Want my old Spurs back.... Not how it is now ploding around and play 90% passes sideways.. COYS!!!!!!

We lost not one but two playmakers. There is movement and while it is often sideways it is often to retain possession. We play more patient, grown-up football, despite losing Modrić and VDV. The regular English, harum-sacrum style is just too stupid to comment on.

What about the ones who were at it before the game kicked off? Are they covered by the 'heat of the moment' caveat or can we question how their brains manage to tell their lungs to inhale? ;)
