IIRC I saw Villa being mentioned as the plan B somewhere. Can someone help me out here? Surely this could mean that our interest in Leandro has cooled off, and we will look elsewhere (Villa, Bernard) unless International drop their price significantly?

We have to be the only fans in the world that see news of the club stepping away from a player as a sign that our chairman is winning. :D

On what principal? That we're an easy club to buy from? That principal?
Don't think that's the problem here. DL always sets a price and says pay up or fuck off. Very open and honest tbf. The goal posts might not be to other clubs' liking but you know where they are at least. This bunch of dicks have moved them constantly. Primarily because we've been the only serious dog in the fight. They've played the game horribly and now are seemingly realising that they've bluffed the wrong club.

Even now, where are all these other European clubs tripping over themselves to blow £20m on Leandro in our absence?

Whatever, not our problem. We either get him for a few million cheaper or another club does. Inter have lost out either way.

Seems like Leandro is surrounded by a bunch of fucking cowboys.

Yes, but cowboys who know they will be cut out by levy imo. Haggling for a good deal is reasonable, spurs won't tolerate any jerkoff agents unless they are hamstrung contractually by the short and curlies. So we stand our ground and see how far these guys get to sucking off the chairman. If/when they do, we get our player. At least that's how I see spurs' position.

"Oh you've offered us your star player? Well you know where my balls are."

The counter argument... "But ITK at the end of the last TW suggested that he moves the goalposts".

Not suggesting this is or isn't true, and if Inter turn up this summer having pissed us about last window asking for the last agreed money would we not say to them, hold on let's rethink the terms slightly?

there was also ITK that Leandro's agent left the hotel when he was due to meet with Spurs. Just did a runner and didn't attend the meeting.

If the price is coming down then why don't we just pay £2m less for Leandro and spend it on agent and signing on fees so him and his agent stop fucking about?

I'm not all that convinced DL wants a player represented by these agents at the club at this point. No doubt he'll get over those concerns if the deal can be done on terms he finds favourable but this guy/these guys sound/s like a right bag of gonads. Even for football agents.

They'll become our nightmare the moment he signs for us, if he signs for us.

Buckle up everyone.

The problem is, if Leandro is AVB's overwhelming choice to spearhead the attack then we still need to keep dialogue open with all parties to try and resolve this matter as quickly as possible, although it's looking increasingly like another fucking saga again.

Mind you, if his agent is playing silly beggars now, it certainly wouldn't be long before he's touting Leandro to pastures new - do we really need that hassle or is he indeed worth the wait?

Hopefully this means we have/will moved on to better, more experienced targets.

I can't actually see us signing Villa, and certainly not Soldado or Negredo considering the noises coming from Spain (the former perhaps, but unlikely due to fee and salary demands, and the latter - neither of them want to leave). Hopefully we'll avoid Damiao as well and go for someone slightly more realistic (I still want Osvaldo, but accept his attitude might be seen as a problem).

It will be interesting the later we get in the window - I expect some new names to pop up, especially with the appointment of Baldini. I think we've seen the last of us just running out of ideas and resorting to desperately pawing at last season's flavour of the month (see the Holt rumours last summer, Benteke this).

Having said all that I wouldn't mind a punt for Kone at Wigan as a back-up - think he's very capable of the lone striker role, though he doesn't score hatfuls, he'd be a capable reserve and is the right type of player. Presumably would be quite cheap, too.

How does us being unsure on LD relate to the ITK that Levy will get all of his number one targets. I am confused, from my understanding LD has been our number one target for best part of two years. I guess who ever we bring in this summer Levy will say was our number one target even if we end up with Carlton Cole. At this point I honestly don't know if this deal is failing because of Inter, 3rd party or Levy. All could be responsible.

It's going on a couple of years. If he was that good and had developed each year since then, we and Marseille would not be the only clubs chasing him. Something tells me he ain't all that. Perhaps AVB and co know better?

He has developed each year since then IMO, last year not as much but then he spent half the season out injured.

Whilst I agree that i'm a little surprised more clubs aren't after him, you have to look at it in context.

Firstly Leandro is never going to be the next Ronaldo. He does however the potential to be a top 20 goal a season striker for any PL team IMO.

So the big teams are currently going for the likes of: Falcao, Cavani, Bale etc... players who are proven at the highest level and who will each cost in excess of £30m.

Leandro is not one of these, which is good as we'd have no chance otherwise.

However he is expensive enough that very few clubs outside of the top 15 clubs in the world have any real chance to afford him.

Marseille certainly couldn't afford him, the Italian teams are struggling for money too.

Does the ITK mean our negotiators keep coming back to us or internacional & his agent keep coming back to us?

I believe there's a clause in his contract that stipulates he can leave for £6.5mil if they got relegated. http://footylatest.com/liverpool-looking-to-snap-up-a-bargain-at-relegated-wigan/44559

We could get Hooper for that ;)
