It's funny people call him the 3rd best in the world. What about Xavi, Iniesta, RVP? Those guys have consistently produced season after season. Bales only done it over a short period of time. But I think it's good people are calling him the 3rd best as it pushes the price up!
Tbh we're about to capitalize on him showing out for half a season (last season) and RM swinging their balls around to show the world they can do and get who they want.

This situation has always been a win win, just want it over now - season starts tomorrow ffs. Not good aura to have around the club. We never seem to start a season clean and ready.

There are a lot of variables to consider how well Bale will do in Spain. First off, i don't think he's ready, he needs a season at RW for us and to learn the role first. He isn't a good CAM, it's not his position, he doesn't have the close control or quick short passing ability to play that role well, never mind at Madrid ahead of Ozil. He wont play left, thats Ronaldos slot, if he did displace Ronaldo thats A LOT of pressure. He has never consistently played right wing, he actually struggled there in the few times we've played him there because he doesn't have that close control dribbling to keep the ball when outnumbered, he quite heavily relies on having space to power in behind to, with his quite limited right foot he doesn't like going down the by line on the right so cuts in, when he cuts in it only ever really works out for him when he can run across the face of the defence and get a shot in, if he has to run between players he usually gets blocked off or fouled because he both A) isn't used to the role yet and B) doesn't have that quick footed close control of say Robben or even in this case Lamela. The Sunderland, Southampton and Wigan games are prime examples of what i am saying here, particularly Wigan where he looked a bit lost out right. The other two games he played central but quite often shifted right and struggled through the game before eventually getting his opportunity to run across(not between) the defence and smash it in.

He just isn't the finished article yet when it comes to playing wide right, as a Left winger he is the best in the world, as a right winger he is still very inexperienced and as a CAM he just doesn't work at the highest level (he actually scored more goals from wide positions than central last year).

Don't get me wrong, he CAN become a world class right winger but i don't think he's ready to go and do that under a £100m price tag at Madrid just yet, he needs a season with us at RW to learn that position before he can perform it for them.

It's a fair post and a well thought out opinion so i hope you take no flack for it.

My counter question is, disregarding the press cuttings, for which we know are somewhat fabricated, how much do we actually know about the situation? No much is my answer.

My point being is that we rightly and wrongly form opinions from various sources without much of what i'd class as direct knowledge. We're all intitled to our own opinions of course which is why i respect that you make a post against the general positive flow, but in this big ol' salty world you have to remember we don't know that much.

I think the comments from AVB today are the biggest indication of what is happening so far. I'm not sure how you can spin them in any positive way. If Bale isn't talking to his manager, well ... don't think we need anything more than that. It now just depends if Spurs stick to their guns and not sell unless their price is met or if they take slightly less in order to 'get rid' of him.

AVB didn't mean he doesn't talk to him, he means doesn't talk to the press. I think JJ's bad news is that he is staying which is bad news for JJ as it means he got it wrong. Also has bale actually said he wants to go? I mean actual quotes or anything?

I didn't say he would be better than Ronaldo or score more goals.
I said he won't be overshadowed.
If Ronaldo scored another 40 goals and Bale got say 30 with 10 assists and knowing him 27 of those will be 30 yard thunder bolts would you say he'd been overshadowed?

Yes. Because he's going to have a world record fee attached to him. He needs to out-perform Ronnie to validate that, especially as many Real fans will think they overpaid.

Trust me Madrid fans will be disappointed with Bale. Said it before 99% wil only have seen youtube compilations and expect him to be Mr. Involved. We made him the fulcrum of our team and he still went missing for most games.

This is an excellent point mate. Its obvious but nevertheless its a very good point. We set up in a way to get the best out of Bale, to get him on the ball as much as possible - we provided the solid platform for him to do his business and everyone looked to give the ball to him as much as possible. People called us a one man team, but in reality we played to that strength - if we hadn't Bale wouldn't of flourished to the extent he did.

Cue Madrid - loads of stars players, none bigger than Ronaldo - who they all look for and feed as much as they can when driving forward.

I think it could be potentially damaging to his career. At best I think he'll struggle and find it bloody difficult.

What's more notable is that he hasn't said he DOESN'T want to go. If he didn't want to go, why wouldn't he say so? What good would it do the club to stop him from saying he wants to stay?

By staying quiet it suggests the club have asked him not to kick up so we can get as much of our business done as possible and to help with negotiations with Madrid.

Yeah, I'm not saying he isn't a majestic footballer with incredible attributes but he's going to have a lot to learn.

Teams attacked us in the league, playing to Bale and our strengths on the counter... He's going to have to work very hard and fast on his close ball control skills as a majority of the teams he will be playing against will be banks of 4.

I personally want him to succeed as I love watching him but I really do feel he's destined to become the next big name flop at Madrid.

He will most likely be told to hug the right hand side of the pitch cutting in, not to say he isn't dangerous there but he has to recognise he will be playing second fiddle big time to Ronaldo.

I think he's in for a right old shock if/when he goes.

He's in fantasy land atm and that's easy to understand with all the hype and RM looking desperate to get him at nearly any cost. I can understand how that must affect someone. But he needs to listen to his missus, as she has no doubt tried to bring him back down to earth...but seemingly in vane.

And what if they get there and she's not happy?? According to past info she hasn't been 100% on this at all. He may have managed to talk her round but living there - in the heat of THAT kitchen - is another thing altogether.

I think he's making a huge mistake, and as quick as the media and the football world will hold you up, they will body slam the fuck out off you, kick you out on the street and treat you like a stinking hobo.

Absolutely disagree with people saying he won't succeed. Lets not start kidding ourselves now, Bale is a truly remarkable player who is close to unique in the way he can devastate teams almost single-handedly. He had to do that last year because of a disastrous transfer window. He'll be brilliant for Madrid, absolutely no doubt whatsoever.
