Wow our spending is nuts!! Where's this money come from?

Got a feeling Sandro wasn't injured last year, he was just cooking Meth in an RV for 6 months.

Anyone else think AVB might sign a new contract once all this spending is done? I think Levy will want to ensure that he doesn't go to one of the elite clubs next summer after showing so much faith in his vision for the club.

I got a winners medal from Ryan for this post. Is it ITK? I don't know but it's as close as I'm ever going to get so I'm milking it.

Right, driving to Poole in 4 hours. Better get some shut eye and if I see Harry and Rosie I'll say hello

I have a theory.

I believe that Arsene Wenger placed a curse on Levy. Within this curse was the idea that Levy could not spend money without balancing books. He would also always say at least 1 top player per season. This curse would last for as long as Wenger could make everybody believe that he was the all powerful football professor. When the doubts begin to set in, Levys ability to spend would be returned

I dont think in Wenger's wildest dreams he would have dreamt Levy to spend 100m - Chelsea with Mourinho Yes, City with Pelligrini Yes, Moyes with United Yes but never ever he would have thought Spurs would go & spend > 100m.

As a football fan I completely baffled by whats happening at Library-

Its like a Libraririan collecting all the membership fee, then burning all unused books and leaving only torn (injured) books in the shelf. Then he goes to France to buy a single second hand book that no one has read before (and its torn too) and replace them; And now the librarian wonders why the members are raging.

If we're going around breaking transfer records, does anyone else not think we can do better then Willian for 30 million?

Another 30m for Lamela too? I seriously doubt this is going to come off.

Must be bale money if so. Potential pre-arrangement with madrid to permit us in spending the cash prior to announcing the transfer.

This is just not our style, how have things suddenly changed over one summer.

Agree with this.

Willian for example does not score enough goals for a 30m player. Lamela has a limited track record as he;s young so could flop or become a mega star - a big risk.

Only way to look at it is that the money for Bale is high, so we are happy to overpay given lack of CL etc.

I am hoping that the payoff is CL and a brand new stadium as a result of a great squad.

Willian isn't a £30 million player for me but the market is distorted, it isn't my money and we desperately need creativity - So who gives a fuck let's not complain :)

To be honest, there really are not a lot of 30 million pound players out there who wouldn't crush our wage structure or let alone agree to move to us, as they are all currently playing for the top 10 teams in the World.

Wilshere was assigned to do similar, but the results are starting to show:p

Agree with this.

Willian for example does not score enough goals for a 30m player.

What like... erm, Buffon
Rio Ferdinand. Thiago Silva, Xabi Alonso, Rui Costa, Axel Witsel, Fernandinho

All 30M + players with not much scoring going on.

Since Modric left we have lacked someone dictating our play, whether that's through intuitive movement or clever/creative passing. we need a creative/playmaker, he fits that bill. If that is the price then so be it.

Oh power, passion plays a double hand
Union, Union Union City man
Arrive, climb up four flights
To the orange side
Rearrange my mind
In turquoise Union, Union, Union City blue
Skyline, passion, Union City blue

Oh power, passion plays a double hand - we'll need to play with power and passion to win the double
Union, Union Union City man - The player's union are furious with Man City's extravegent wages
Arrive, climb up four flights - At last we've arrived to climb to the coveted fourth spot
To the orange side - Shaktar will get something from the Willian deal
Rearrange my mind - The result of today's ITK battering

We sold Modric for 33mill, whilst he did not directly provide or assist 15-20 goals a season he was still the creative heartbeat of our side and well worth the price we were paid for him. Willian is equally as creative and will provide/assist 15-20 goals a season, he might not keep us ticking like Modric but for our team he is worth every single penny. There's just as much value in someone who will give you 15 assists a season than there is in someone who will score 15 goals a season.

Precisely.

A player has two values, his intrinsic worth to the team he plays in and the amount potential suitors are prepared to pay for him.

Both values can be distorted for varying reasons, the most prevalent being said player has a skill set the team badly lacks/requires.

There is actually no minimum, it's more to do with limiting non-homegrown quota to 17. Besides even if there was minimum of 8 players, we could also throw random kid there.

However point of non-homegrown players is relevant: Friedel, Lloris, (Gomes), Vertonghen, Kaboul, (BAE), Capoue, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Chadli, Holtby, Willian(?), Falque, Soldado, (Ade)

It's getting quite packed, though we're obviously losing a few

HG are Walker, Naughton, Rose, Dawson, Lennon, Siggy, Carroll(probably leaves on loan), Bale, Townsend (for sale?), Defoe, Fryers

Fryers and Carroll can be on youth quota though.

What is defined as homegrown? A time a player has been at the club? Siggy just got with us...

Our team is going to be very very very very difficult to break down.

After what I saw Spurs against Palace, Capoue has to be in AVB's thoughts for a starting place.

Some may not agree but I can see AVB starting Capoue with Paulinho in middle ahead of Dembele - provided if Bale stays. If Bale stays ofcourse we could switch to 4-3-3 & play Dembele with Capoue & Paulinho.

Anyway, that CM has to be one strongest interms of tackling, interceptions and turn defense into attack. Capoue also looks to be very good on the ball and keeps possession well as well. Oppositions are going to find it difficult to dislodge the ball from likes of Dembele, Capoue, Willian. Even Chadli looks strong in possession.

Last season, our possession average was around 54% and that will definitely increase. With the creativity added, I can see Soldado & Defoe/Ade having loads of chances inside the box.

It is almost unthinkable for us to not be in top 4 end of this season.
