Hey Guys!! New to the forum and just wanted to say hi! Mood is pretty low right now so i'm gona look at the positives with my first post. Levy is the master when it comes to the last week of the transfer market. and with 30 mil saved and Baldini hunting targets I have know doubt missing out on the Brazilian is a blessing in disguise!! Oh and COYS!!!!!

Welcome COYS!

I can just see the Madrid chat forums now, "I can't believe it! We had a stage built and everything and then Chelsea screwed us with the Willian bid! Oh well, Bale was crap anyway he has hardly won anything with Wales and is way overpriced. He did alright in a poor English league but would be rubbish in the mighty la liga"

Gonna have a bunch of Arsenal fans laughing at me after I mocked them about their lack of signings and told them that Willian and Lamela were definitely coming in if Bale left.

Up to this point I've been certain Bale was staying but I've pretty much given up now.

'We won't sell Bale until we have replacements'

'Levy will keep Bale now Willian ain't coming!!111one!11!!'

'Bale will stay'

I'm all for optimism but this is delusion. Bale is gone as far as I'm concerned... Way too many foreboding signs; the stage at the Bernabeu , the Madrid store selling the shirts. All the credible journos saying so.

The plan was clearly let Bale go this weekend and announce Willian straight after.

Looks like now Bale will go and no-one will be announced, I'm still confident we'll get people in though.

Sooner some of you let it go, the less it will hurt.

I'm absolutely convinced this is exactly what is going to happen. I expect Bale's departure to be announced over the weekend, whilst our transfer committee scratch their arses wondering what the hell they're going to do to replace him.

As good as this window has been, I can tell it's going to end on a massive downer that will probably leave the players and manager asking some serious questions about our commitment to building a successful team.
If that happens then they'd not be wrong would they? You'll get no arguments from me and I suppose I'm lumped in with the BSoDL lot.

The very least I'm expecting from this window is to have a stronger squad and proper striker. If DL is as good as many of his real acolytes feel, then we could come out of this much stronger as a club if the right moves are taken.

To leave us weaker would be devastating and there'd be no hiding place. Not from AVB anyway, imo. It could get nasty quickly. Especially after the minor miracles of getting 72 pts last season occurred. Especially after such a promising start to the window. Hopefully that's just being a bit dramatic because ultimately an unhappy coach is something that kills successful seasons. Quicker and more surely than any pouty players or squad disruptions.

Try and keep your chin up though. We've already done several things I didn't think we'd do this window which give me some optimism still.

On SSN right now:

They have just built the stage inside the Bernabeu that they used to unveil Ronaldo. Live video images of the stage were shown. The stage wasn't there last night (as Raul had his testimonial).

What would be good would be to have 2 stages, with Bale standing on one, and then on the other Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue, Chadli, the other one that I don't want to mention in case I jinx it, and a big pile of money.

That would really cheer the Madrid Fans up, and make everyone else other than Perez think WTF!!!:)

Just a thought (whatever this sounds like I'm NOT slagging ITK'S off!) Mourinho made a quip that "medicals should be done in secret" now we know for a fact spurs did not release a statement about a medical, it was not on the official site. We all got wind of it through ITK'S, which is probably where the press picked it up from...could it be our own ITK'S have inadvertently given info away to Chelsea?!? OMG!

Although more likely Kia whatshisface probably told them. Interesting theory though...
I don't think so. I'd assume NDA's would have to be signed by all the people working on the deal first hand to prevent leaks.... It could've been someone in Kia's camp though. Not Kia himself, but someone working for/with him

My take on it is that it will feel like that over the weekend when Bale goes but will change because we'll sign Lamela plus another Willian-esque star player next week. Plus a win against Swansea and 2 maybe 3 more signings (LB, CF, CB) and the mood will be very happy this time next week.

POS PILLS.

Absolutely agree. The waves of optimism combined lack of ambition is a real testament to the state of the nation.

Everyone wants and expects something for nothing..

Fergie didn't say "Right, we won the league again, no need to sign anyone" He constantly strived for better.

You can't rest on your laurels if you want to succeed.

In the same vein, in our boat if you want to succeed you can't keep risking losing your best and hoping the newcomers will come cheap and blossom.

Has anyone actually made a list of potential players that are goo enough, affordable and willing to sign instead of Willian?

Cos I am struggling to name one.

Grey Fox thank you for cheering me up. My other plan was to drive around London and see if i can run Willan over!

NB I still don't understand why we would sell Bale. He is unhappy? ah bless. Get on with it like the rest of us!

Sorry - just to add to my post, honestly a bit of perspective is needed. Rewind a week and we are where we were. Optimisitic and impressed as hell at our business. A lot has happened in the last week with a player absolutely nobody thought we were signing until a few days ago. Don't let that instantly obliterate everything that has come before.

It's disappointing in the right here and now but ultimately it hasn't changed a thing from a week ago and nobody was lining up to lob themselves off the nearest bridge before that.

You've said that to me on several occasions but I've never singled out Levy for any of this. I admire the brilliant things he's done for the club, so how about reading my posts and formulating an interesting and legitimate response rather than this pathetic, incorrect, and boring drivel?

Because you are always so bloody negative......lighten up - we have bought good and bad players just like every other club.

We've hardly been tearing up the Champions League though have we.

This whole window seems to be heading towards yet another case of one step forward two steps back. Bring in some brilliant midfielders and a top quality striker, then sell our star player, fuck up the replacements, and leave our forward line disjointed and as creative as a brick.

Anyone who thinks we'll keep Bale when we inevitably miss out on Lamela is dreaming with their eyes open. We'll probably spunk the cash on Johnny Average and his mate Danny Deadwood.

Surely that's several steps forward and one step back? Our forward lone last season was almost non-existent, so we have clearly improved it this summer. How can we go from everything being amazing and wonderful yesterday with Willian signing to suddenly now he's gone to those ****s it's suddenly 'two steps back'? Yes he would've been the last piece of the jigsaw for us but he's not the only player in the world in that position (Eriksen) and even before being linked to him this was being rated as an amazing window even withy the loss of Bale.

I don't get it. It's like razor blade central in here - I can only assume hatred for Chelsea has brought the mood down?

I think KJ has played Levy big time here, knowing how much Willian wanted to move to London, the fact that The Chavs weren't really interested l, he used us to smoke em out and get the bumper financial deal!!! The ****!!!! Just hope we do the chavwankers home and away!!!!!

Is that not what strengthening a squad is all about?????

I'd be far from devastated if signed Damiao.

My hunch is AVBs plan is to build a more versatile squad, where no player is frozen out - then a couple of youngster for experience and depth.

One of Soldado or Damiao would be frozen out bar injury, as both only play no.9.

Suspect if we can it will be someone like Lamela or Morata occupying the Soldado understudy slot - whilst getting minutes in other positions.

I just don't think it's a smart use of our resources to have a £20m / £100k a week player wasting on the bench bar injury or suspension.

My fellow depressives,
Why exactly are we selling Bale again if we can't bring in replacements that will benefit the team in the long run?

Because he wants to go?
Because the money is too good to turn down?
Some other reason?

Genuine question, no snark.
If it would were me I'd pull the plug on the deal. Assuming it's not already been signed. He's our player after all.
