Lewis Holtby he is the player for this role, future star I think, give him game time (not as a sub) in his proper position No10 as he plays for Germany.
Both Holby and AVB seem to believe he is better suited to a deep lying playmaker role though. So selling Siggy and bringing Eriksen in would give us two players to play the DM, box to box and player maker roles.

I have never heard Holtby or AVB say this is his best position. Holtby himself prefers the number 10 role where he plays for Germany. He played out of position when he came on mostly as a sub in only his first half season. He should play where Sigurosson has been this year so far, he is the better player and will only get better with time and games.

@Gary_BexTHFC Willian was not even an option 3 weeks ago. It was all about Pjanic or Eriksen. Pjanic is surely unavailable now Lamela joins

Eriksen likely to join an English club in the next week. I'd say Spurs #THFC

According to De Telegraaf's Jaap de Groot, it'll be a 'miracle' if Christian Eriksen doesn't move to England next week.

Looks like ITK mixed with onion- but still interesting

i hope we get him, eriksen, lamela and soldado as three of our attacking four pleases me, not sure who would deserve the other spot.

Holtby prefers the number 6 position but will happily play 10. There are quotes about it all over this forum. I agree with you that Holtby is going to get better and better and he deffo shouldn`t be judged on his half season so far.

Thanks I will have a look for them Ive heard him say he likes playing in behind the strikers. I don't want him to become lost while we hunt for higher priced so called bigger names, when he could easily go on to be a big star, I think he will be a regular first team player for the German national side.

There is an article from when Holtby joined saying he believes his long term future is at 6 not 10, and there is also ITK that says AVB see him as the same.

Holtby will rarely play CM for us with Paulinho, Sandro, Capoue and Dembele ahead of him. Would have to be a mammoth injury list for us to consider it imo.

So would it be fair to say Eriksen plays more advanced than Holtby, I have not seen that much of Christian Eriksen to be honest, Vertonghen seems to think very highly of his former team mate. Sigurosson seems to struggle quite a bit, I don't know if its form or confidence or being over shadowed by those around him. I would imagine Christian Eriksen is technically very good comig from Ajax.

He operates as the LCM in Ajax' 4-3-3 system. Usually their most advanced central midfielder.

Hasn't there been plenty of ITK to suggest that AVB doesn't rate Eriksen though? So in the end if he's the best of what's left, he's still not going to get a player he wants.

I would find it hard to believe anyone can know who the manager actually rates, unless AVB actually comes out and says as much, that he is not interested in a player at all.

You haven't quite got to grips with what ITK is then huh? :D

If Eriksen is available and willing to come here, especially at a price similar to what has been quoted, I think we would be foolish not to move for him. At his age, he is one of the best young talents in Europe by a fair margin.

I am not sold. I am sure he is solid, but I don't see him being a significant upgrade over the players we have, and who have not really had a chance to shine yet. I would rather get back to building up some of the value for the guys we have and buying a proven player for the position when they come available if the players we have don't work out.

which players? please don't say Sigurdsson, or I'll know you've just not watched him

Having ITK of whats in the managers mind would be impressive albeit slightly laughable :D I don't believe AVB is the kind of man to come out and say he doesn't rate any player even if thats what he thinks, I think he would basically not comment on it. If Eriksen is available for the kind of money talked about and we haven't moved for him, then I guess a conclusion could be drawn from that.
