My sanity is fine thanks. I DO think this will be done in the end. But we have zilch at this point to say that it's complete....and the events of this week show us that 'done' is not necessarily done until the ink is actually dry on the contract.

I'd actually have agreed with you that they might have got away with not signing anyone normally. There'd be grumbling but we'd muddle through. But this deal is different. This is one of the best players in the world (according to the press). To not replace him would make the club look unforgiveably poorly run.

And that's before you consider the manager who turned down the untold wealth of PSG to stay. Selling his best player and not replacing them probably wasn't a situation he'd have been happy to acquiesce to.

And we are still looking for stadium sponsorship.

Youre right, this is different.

Also just to say , with the way it's going I can't actually see it being a record fee! The way we have seemingly backed down and been bullied makes me believe it will be around 50-60! Hope not but being pessimistic after my months of solid and unwaivered optimism

The events of the last few days have strengthened our bargaining position and should have hardened our stance if anything.

No 30m outgoing to cover, no replacement in place.

What makes you think that we have "backed down and been bullied"?

Someone mentioned on twitter that we lodged a bid for Hulk...in the range of 25m pounds
Well, I'm not a fan but AVB did seem to have quite a player on his hands at Porto so, trust...judgement...etc.

If true. Anyways, it's twatter.

Don't believe bale changed his mind as such. If levy stuck with the your staying stance that he started with then he would have no choice but to stay and would only be harming himself if not performing. But with him changing his stance to available for 120 then 85, still Madrid can't meet it, but all of a sudden it's pretty much done. Feel this could be because we've lowered our demands.
Levy should have set a deadline for the deal so we have time. And also as soon as he decided to sell we should have got out targets. It seems like we only really started the motions a few days ago. (with the exception of William as he was purely circumstance)
Levy hasn't been very organised from my point of veiw, but again some words from the club would help.
The last we heard he was not going at all. And if this had changed we as fans should have been informed in some way

Yes, I missed that part first. Brings me comfort. Blowing £25m on a roided up JD. :wtf:

Sooo, the panic is still being felt by some in here, yours truly included. I can feel it subsiding. This is all in our own hands at least. Anything but a small victory will be a massive failure. No grey area this time around.

Was Hulk the actual answer to A&C's cryptic or are we just talking about Hulk as there is nothing else to talk about? For the love of god and all that is holy we need some ITK now! I will start to worry about people's sanity otherwise.

Please not Hulk!

Anyway, during Jaspers Q&A yesterday (update 345+346), he actually mentioned Hulk but it seems it didnt make it to the RO (perhaps because he didnt say whether we were interested):
"He was been wrongly shopped around (Agents) for 12 months loan with option with no takers."

This was in response to a poster thinking we shoudl make a cheeky bid for him.

Cant really understand what "wrongly" means in that sentence though.

We could bid £25m all we want but can't see zenit selling for half what they paid 12 months ago.

Hulk isn't the playmaker we desperately crave and we have plenty of direct wide men (including Lamela if he comes) not to mention the huge fee and wages so it's a firm no from me.

Exactly. If anything, we should now be really pushing for players in the deal since we're now getting within squeaky bottom distance of the deadline: "So....about your overstocked midfield?"

Vlad Chirchices is a guest at the game tomorrow. Fryers is going out on loan.

we'll know it's him because the shades will be drawn in his executive box

it's a shame he'll only be able to play in evening games though

Lamela is 90% done according to @FabRomano21 but what was Willian then?
What number do you think Lamela will take... 6 or 11? ;-) empty slot for the taking
99.999%

I'll un-pucker when we reach 100%. Not a moment before then!
