What makes you think that we have "backed down and been bullied"?

Thr fact that we went from not selling under any circumstances, with avb and levy backing this up, to selling for 120 and fc, ti selling for 85 and fc, to selling for 85, all with no word from us.
The media coverage and the way Madrid have gone about this from the start also portrays bullying tactics, wether or not this has worked in us behind the scenes or not

Anyone remember last week, when the ITK was running freely, and it was all positive? Ah, happy days. Hopefully there might be some Spurs transfer news when the Sundays publish tonight...

Don't believe bale changed his mind as such. If levy stuck with the your staying stance that he started with then he would have no choice but to stay and would only be harming himself if not performing. But with him changing his stance to available for 120 then 85, still Madrid can't meet it, but all of a sudden it's pretty much done. Feel this could be because we've lowered our demands.
Levy should have set a deadline for the deal so we have time. And also as soon as he decided to sell we should have got out targets. It seems like we only really started the motions a few days ago. (with the exception of William as he was purely circumstance)
Levy hasn't been very organised from my point of veiw, but again some words from the club would help.
The last we heard he was not going at all. And if this had changed we as fans should have been informed in some way

Sorry...........let me get this straight....you're basing your argument on the figures that have been tossed gratuitously around in the media over the past month?

Really, mate, it hadn't occurred to you that a seasoned negotiator like Levy is highly unlikely even to have named a price to Perez let alone to some no mark hacks???!!!

The media were plucking arbitrary figures from thin air.

Hulk and Damiao would be a bad end to the summer.

Shocking! Last season we would have been singing up and down seven sisters road if we signed those 2 players. We make a few signings this summer and all of a sudden Hulk and Damiao are not good enough for us!

There's never been an official statement of 'No sale at any price' from us really and the figures you're talking about are just ones that have been bandied about by the press. There's no need for us to be bullied by Real - we hold all the cards here.

I yearn for a day of ITK like we had on Tuesday, epic stuff.

Off-topic, but can someone explain "WUM" to me?

I've guessed that it might be "Woefully Uninformed Moron" but who's to say?

Vlad Chirchices is a guest at the game tomorrow. Fryers is going out on loan.

Where'd you hear? I think if Fryers is going out on loan and with BAE seemingly gone we'll definitely be bringing in a LB. Most links were to Coentrao and I believe there was a link to Daley Blind at one point.

I am surprised Vlad the Impaler would be here. Wouldn't he be with Steaua preparing for their match Tuesday?

Yes because we have nothing else to base it in due to our silence. I'm a fan of levy but can't see why he would let it run until now

As I said in my previous post, whatever figures you read about in the press would have been entirely fabricated.

As to Spurs selling at all, it is more than likely that AVB, Baldini and Levy sat down and determined that, actually, they could make the club stronger by cashing in on Bale.

Levy wasn't bullied into this deal. He is only allowing it to go ahead because it suits Spurs as much as it suits Madrid.

Seems so long ago now. This can still be an epic win and I hold out some genuine hope for that considering our moves already this summer.

There's no denying a familiarity to this feeling and scenario though is there? Even for the most upbeat and wild optimists amongst us. Please not another heart-breaking end to a summer window.

I get the unfortunate feeling that for a few years to come we'll be in a position where we have to sell one of our best talents every few years. It's shitty but it's a fact of life. I think we're going to have to get used to it. If we beat ourselves up this badly when we're selling a player for a world record we've got no chance really, have we?

There's no reason we can't do a Porto/Ajax/Dortmund and continue to succeed regardless.

To a certain extent this would actually be a god sign. If clubs keep coming back, it would mean the production line of talent within our club is ongoing.
However, moving past that situation, I'd like to think after this summer's spend up, if its concluded with same calibre it has started with, will push us onto the top table, abc strengthen out position regarding attracting and retaining players. We're not quite there yet, hence Modric and now Bale. But, a couple of seasons of regular CL qualification and genuine challenging for silverware, we'll be in a much better position. I feel this sale (Bale) and subsequent reinvestment, could be the one to push us up that final step.
Coentrao, Chiriches, Lamela and a LF/AM from the Bale cash, we are laughing.
I think there'll be more movement in the striker situation too, with at least one of Ade/Defoe going. I personally haven't ruled out Soldado and Damaio being out two senior strikers come Sept 2nd, with Kane or a Rebic type signing, maybe even a loanee, as third choice.
