I have to disagree. Cant imagine Ronaldo and co waiting to see Gareth, their egos wont allow it.

I'm really thinking more in terms of manager and club brass, many of whom are likely going to the match. The day of an away match would seem an odd time to finalize this deal. But I agree, Ronaldo is not likely to be the one picking him up from the airport. :)

Seems to me you're as much concerned about the PL as you are about Tottenham and I simply can't relate to that.

Well, yes and no. I specifically included Chelsea as well, whose purchase of Willian was flat-out anti-competitive. But we are bound into collective agreements with our rival clubs, with the intensity of that rivalry a big selling point. That's why we can buy the likes of Lamela and Soldado from clubs with bigger names. Would you rather have 22 million, Hernandez and Willian, plus what Madrid are giving us? Or just take another low-ball offer because it won't strengthen a rival, who finishes 20 points ahead of us every season?

For the record, like, I really hope Bale goes to Madrid. I couldn't handle another of our players going to Manchester.

This is kind of a short-term mindset, though. Is the long-term future of the league or the teams in it assisted by us selling Modric and Bale abroad at knockdown prices and Chelsea warehousing Willian? We have reportedly turned down 22 million and Hernandez to avoid selling to a team who finished 17 points ahead of us last season, Chelsea have just created a dressing room problem for themselves, and the best British player in 30 years will spend his career promoting La Liga rather than the Premiership.
That suits me. We'll never deal with Chelski or Manure again.

Saw this headline and thought were in!!!! 'Tottenham 'considering another bid' for Gareth Bale' Then read the report and saw it was another clubs bid. ;)

If it actually exists, I bet this bid is PSG - AVB may have turned down their job offer but he's cosy with the owners there. Might have called in a favour...

If we were serious about selling to United (which I don't believe we are and hope we're not) I'd be asking for Kagawa as part of the deal.

These other offers are so blatantly Levy stirring... Subtle reminder to Madrid that he's our player and they need to pay up....

Not sure they'll fall for it though...

Not levy's job to concern himself with the prestige status of the premiership or British football

Levy is in charge. Wouldn't surprise me to see bale still ours at end of window.

For those people that say give it up, I still believe he is gone.

Well if they don't, they don't get Bale. They have 0 leverage in this situation.

As I clarified, it's not just about us. But remember that we will have lost out on 54 million by selling Bale and Modric to Madrid, if the ITK reports of the United offer are true.

Swanson released a key bit of info on his round up there if anyone was listening.

With regards to another bid, he said the Bale camp weren't aware of any other interest aside from Madrid.

Another words, they (Bale and his agent) were exposing our tactic....ties in the with speculation that Bale is very frustrated to.
