The fact that he's training doesn't mean it isn't close. Just means that he's not being a twat.

Exactly.

Points that make this deal seem close are:
  • They didn't play him on the weekend
  • They are close to signing a replacement in Ljajic
  • Everywhere in Italy say it is close to be being concluded
  • Our ITKs say we have been working on it for a while
  • His brother keeps saying he is Spurs bound
Points that make this seem far away:
  • Paranoia
  • Pessimism
There is nothing to suggest there is any need to panic thus far. So calm down, Rome wasn't built in a day, so why do people think raiding it would be any different.

I'm not sure why people are saying that the Ljajic deal is proof that Lamela is still on his way out? Ljajic is a massive talent available at a bargain price. I'm sure with the sales that Roma has made this summer they're able to afford the 12m Euro outlay to bring him in, and wouldn't mind having him and Lamela on opposite wings for a year should we fail to meet their demands. They know we're desperate to replace Bale after the Willian fiasco and hold all the cards here.

Except their owners have said they have to make money this summer, so they don't hold all the cards as they have to sell Lamela to get Ljajic in.

But they also have the wonderfully talented Gervinho to play in the same position!

Every transfer seems to be "done" these days!

I think the Oxford English dictionary need to amend the meaning of done to be honest.

Done
verb: Used as past tense meaning nowhere fucking near completed yet but I've blown my load in excitement.
Exclamation: In response to an offer. Accepted. Well nearly.
Synonyms: Made: Finished. Well nearly.

Well they're not going to fit Totti, Gervinho, Ljajic and Lamela into the same team are they.

He's training with Roma?????

What kind of moronic footballer actually trains with his team until his transfer goes through?? Ridiculous behaviour!!!

Its not proof no, but he does play in the same position as Lamela, or his best position is the same, so it is either a massive coincidence or Lamela has been sold.. Willian was not the Bale replacement either..

If Ljajic is available at 12m then I'm pretty sure we'd be interested. The fact that we're not, and he's gone to Roma, suggests to me that everything is very close for Lamela.

I understand why people are jittery, and of course nothing is done until it is actually done on the official site...now more than ever. But the signs are good and I think, even as an eternal pessimist, that we will get this deal done.

I just hope it's soon so that everyone on SC can stop biting their nails/fingers/knuckles/penises.

I not sure why Ljajic is Lamela's replacement considering they play on different sides of the pitch and have different dominant feet.

If Lamela flew here this morning, he wouldn't have been able to train for Roma OR us, meaning he's less match ready.

Maybe we wanted him to train in Rome today and then fly here this evening. That way he gets his fitness up.

Quite sensible.

this is beginning to sound very similar to Soldado, in regards to him still training with the team until and agreement is reached.

I'm still holding hope that he will be unveiled at HT on Thursday's game :p

I think the worry is that it drags for the rest of the week and then we enter deadline day terrority.

Hopefully its all done in the next 48 hours. I'd be worried if he isn't over here by Thursday though.
