Why didn't someone step in and halt the BAE loan, Rose not good enough and doesn't have proper competition for his place. Very silly, comical in fact.

coentrao to united may have fallen through due to not having paperwork sorted in time

Would have kept Carrol for the Europa league games and maybe the Carling cup.

Wasted at QPR and that goes for BAE as well.

Wouldn't get a game at League Cup or UEL now that we've everyone in and needs to play regularly. QPR is fine place to show wether he has it.

Cheers for all the information and discussion everyone, it's been a great window on here, thoroughly enjoyable - pretty sure I've never said that about a Spurs window before!
Some brilliant business done by the club, and done relatively early too.
Would have liked a left-back, and sincerely hope it doesn't result in Vertonghen playing 20-odd games at left-back this season, as in my opinion he's wasted there.
Pleased Lennon hasn't gone, and hope he'll be involved in the plans, as from what I've seen so far we lack a bit of pace and invention, and I suspect Lamela may take a while to adjust to the Premier League and may even need to bulk up a little, as Bale did before becoming such a force.
Think we've got good adaptable options all over the pitch, and once we've established our best team and they've got used to playing together we'll be a force.
The league should be fascinating this year - I expect Chelsea and City to be strong, can't believe United haven't done more business; Ozil is one hell of a signing for Arsenal, truly jealous of that, but they're still short in several areas; and Liverpool have signed some good players and should be a dynamic attacking force this season. The top 6 is going to be one hell of a bun fight, but we must be in with a very good shout of the top four with the business we've done.
Thumbs up to all concerned, thanks to A&C and the mods, and ta ta and thanks for the memories JJ.
Now, who said I was a negative little ****?

A year from now, we will all be praising AVB Levy Baldini and others for forming a formidable squad; who were able to bring those glory glory days back at the Lane. Champions League football is still very much in the offering and I feel more likely than ever.

Really disappointed Carroll has gone to QPR. He needs to be around Premier League quality players not only so he can learn but also so our staff can see how good he really is. Being one of the best midfielders in the Championship isn't going to say a lot.

They would have sold to the club which will have offered them the most. It would have also been the players choice if multiple bids had been accepted. 43 odd million pounds is nothing to be sniffed at. Very few clubs can afford that. From the clubs that have that kind of money - did they even want or need Ozil?

Surprised PSG weren't in. They were apparently desperate for a number 10

No mate, they're the mugs who overpaid for a player and have practically strengthened every part of our team.
Yes but they've also strengthened our main rivals This partnership is clearly bollox which is frustrating. I guess we wanted the perfect window which it nearly was!

So many dicks on a deadline day. We done great business. Seven players with a zero net spend, wtf is there to complain about because we didn't sign a LB and another forward and because they signed Ozil. Name me one club who had a perfect window?

Can't believe we spent nothing and all the other teams signed the best players
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Best window ever 7 great players. COYS!
--------------------------------------------------
Danny Rose, do me a favour, where's our cover at left back?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
If we signed Lamela today there would be jizz everywhere!

So we sell our best player to Real. Then Real sell Ozil to our enemy and closest rival and loan our number 1 target for left back to UTD.

****s. What special relationship.

So now that it's all over, what was our net transfer spend?

£86m for Bale plus another £23m for Caulker, Huddlestone, Dempsey & Parker less £109m spent = nil...

So what happened to the £40m war chest and the £50m loan from Joe Lewis?

Just asking...

I wonder if we signed off Benny's loan deal thinking Coentrao was coming.

Yeah, shit on us with £85m for 7 new players. The BASTARDS.

They have ripped us a large new one and played games with us. let's not pretend. We need to learn. If they do it once it is their fault....... We can't let them do it again, this is no partnership.

Perez wins over Levy!

We sell our best player to them but fiddle around too much.
He sells a world-class midfielder to NL rivals- knowing the effects of that
Stitches up over FC- our main LB target

if anything we f[[cked madid over. we got 40 mill more for bale than he was worth. we have the toughest midfield in the league. no team is gonna fancy seeing capoue, paulino and sandro opposing them. the money we got for bale forced arsenal to massively overpay in fee and wages for 1 (albeit great) player. We need to concentrate on US and hope avb can gel these players.

I disagree. I think Europa and Carling cup games aren't as good opportunities for player growth as people make them out to be. First and foremost is the fact that as cup competitions you never really know how long the run is going to go for. Secondly as illustrated by our game against Tibilisi, in cup competitions you can never be sure about the quality of the opponent you might face. Sometimes they can be shit, other times they can be spectacular. That kind of inconsistency is alright when you've got a team with a good bit of experience but for a player who's just finding his feet at the top flight it can be detrimental to his development. The good thing about the Championship is that the teams there are all at least at a certain level which can only be good for a player like Carroll's progress. Not to mention they're playing in a team that has no other option but to re-qualify for the PL (or risk incurring massive losses on last years investment), I think the environment at QPR, will on the whole, be very beneficial for him. With BAE I think the board and staff decided it was better to send him to Loftus Road while they search for a player who properly fits AVBs system. We've got Verts who can deputize in that area if need be and who knows maybe the winter TW might have something in store for us yet. In any case I don't think the loan is 'waste'.
