Soldado is getting very little service from the sides. Almost all his chances have been when the ball has been played through to him (such as Eriksen's through ball today). If we're playing inverted wingers like Townsend/Lamela, and Siggy/Chadli he needs our full-backs to get forward and put crosses in.

I don't think Rose and Walker are too bad at this, but they're not particularly great either.

Overall I'm not worried. Soldado is a brilliant signing that has already contributed well. Once our midfield clicks and we start generating more chances in the opposition area, Soldado will come into his element.

Lineker went a good few games without scoring(i believe) i just think Soldado needs to pop one away and he will go on to a good return for his first season.

But the longer he goes without scoring may develop into a problem for him. As for the team unlike last year we have others who look like they can find the net and have done so.

I've seen enough times where he could and should have been found, but someone got greedy and tried a pot shot from distance. We've a lot of new players or players on the fringe trying too hard to make a name for themselves at the expense of picking Soldado out. There's some clearly playing as individuals to try to force a regular spot.

I'm happy with Eriksen, Holtby, & Lamela as they haven't done this and for them clearly the team/football comes first, and picking out the right option is a strong attribute of theirs. They look for it.

Some occasional opportunity wasters have been Paulinho, Dembele, Siggy, though this is fine on occasion (as they do and as can be expected positionally).

But at the wrong end of the spectrum there has commonly been Townsend (though looked better at doing the right thing today) and Chadli. Both, to this date, the oft used 2 wide-to-inside attackers outside the central Soldado.

[Obviously Defoe is not worth mentioning because he's been doing it 9/10 his whole career, but he is an out and out striker in his defense].

It's early days though, and hopefully new and not yet established players settle/learn/change their attitude.

I don't think Soldado has been bad, I just think his support isn't there yet. I'd imagine he's getting a little pee'ved by the individual-prioritising/greed of at least a few team mates.

It doesn't if you're going to look at it in the most simplistic terms possible. Spurger King's post directly above your's is spot on.

We are currently on our best run since 60/61 and you question our service? Come on...

I'm just not worried. The panache with which he put those two penalties away was such a contrast with the sort of penalty misses we've seen from Spurs in recent years. Why do we denigrate goals scored from penalties when so many players find them difficult? He's playing an effective role within the team. His movement is fine and intelligent. I reckon if his and Defoe's roles were reversed then Defoe would have missed at least one of those pens (because he always does), and Soldado would have bagged plenty in the cup games.

I love that there is already a fucking group of moaning pricks regarding Soldado. Get a fucking grip...

At least he's had 6 games before getting it, poor old Lamela only got one fucker out of the way before some idiot/s claimed he "hadn't done anything"

And tbf, SK completely ripped off an even earlier post of mine.

One moment that stood out for me in the Cardiff game last weekend was Soldado going straight to Lamela to celebrate after Paulinho scored his goal. It got me wondering if Soldado really is craving someone like Lamela playing next to him who is constantly looking to play quick passes with his head up. I think those two could really do well together, but they need game time to form an understanding.

Solado is a clever player, he needs clever players to bring the best out of him.
Lamela, eric and holtby are these clever players and arent playing regular, because its only been 6 FCUKING games in the epl ok.
Were second in the league and the best defence record in Europes top 5 leagues.
AVB is building from the back, dont concede dont lose.
Solado had a day to forget or should i say a second half.
So what, you never had an off day?
Come back after 10 15 games, then we can asses properly.

If we keep playing 4-2-3-1 then I think a traditional winger like Lennon would get Soldado more goals. I don't think Chadli on the right would be too shabby either.
