He is, but it's a huge question of when AVB will give him in a run of games starting in the league. I mean, the fact he didn't even play today doesn't signal that he's going to be going into the first 11 any time soon. I'm concerned about it to be honest, as I'm worried he'll see how well Roma are doing, and be a bit dissatisfied being a bench-warmer for us, even if it's a temporary tactic by AVB like Lloris last season.

Lamela will get his chance, I am certain that by the end of this season he will be starting regularly for us. He is still a kid who speaks no English trying to find his feet in a new country and a new league - AVB is easing him in gently which is the right thing to do imo.

Against lesser opposition we should try to do a chelsea and play creative players everywhere.

Dembele - Holtby - Paulinho

Lamela - Soldado - Eriksen

There you go, Soldado will have a field day.
Yes. In games like today, Soldado wasn't the problem. The CM was where it went ****ybooby but in a game where discipline and possession will have to be put over creativity he still helps the play massively by keeping the ball moving in the final 3rd. Need to start getting Lamela involved over the next couple of weeks and him and Eriksen either side of Bobby in the tougher games against the chavs, citehs et all will still give us a chance to create something for him.

Go nuts against teams who only come to sit deep and defend though, like you say.

This is what worries me, if you go watch extended highlights of matches Soldado played brilliantly for Valencia for; there were loads of through balls for him, slipped in... over the top etc.

He won't score out of nothing so.

I think this is because we play with such a slow build up that the opposition are able to flood their defence with bodies, hopefully as the players get to know each other game better our approach play will speed up up and so give Soldado more/better service that he accustomed to.

I thought our Midfield was excellent today, there's not much they can do if Dawson is bypassing them with continuous hoofing.

Chelsea's best spell was when we reverted to playing like we did when we went through our sticky patch.

As for Soldado, he needs service and he needs to get used to the pace of the EPL - I think he'll score 20 this season.

We're 6 games into this season. Considering we won't even see the ceiling of this squad for a few yrs yet, we just need to be patient. I've no doubt we'll be more comfortable and have a greater understanding by Xmas. Even better still by the season's end.

The settling in period is still in its infancy and so I'll take this right now. Yes, there are still improvements to be made but then we all realised that was going to be case, as frustrating as it might be.

Soldado's still finding his way around the Prem and is probably only about 50% as good as he will be IMO. But even at 50%, he's contributing plenty to the build-up and has been unlucky not to score more himself. I see no problems whatsoever.

If Paulinho had squared that ball to him, we would've been 2 nill up.

The things with Soldado is he always put the team first and make the best decision on the pitch. It's up to the rest to try looking for him instead of going for glory.
He's our number 9 and every penny we paid was worth it.

He set up the goal. And didn't have any Chances himself, bar the pass fired into him by eriksen early on.

He brings others into the game, unfortunately we haven't given him much service other than the Tblisi and Cardiff games.

The fact we prefer to always cut in than cross the ball, limits his ability to get on the end of attacks.

He'll still score 20 this season if he's given a run to get used to the prem and his new team mates.

No service then no goals for any of our strikers. Same problem when Ade played last season.

Okay, lets take off our spurs tinted glasses. Setup the goal today, so an assist whilst having absolutely fuck all service 99% of the time and what he did get, 99% of the time he did something with.

There is so much more to strikers than their goals to games ratio. He is very much our focal point he creates space for others to run into aka: todays goal and goals against Norwich.

He is a box specialist and at the moment we aren't playing to his strengths as we need much more time to gel and for an understanding to be made. Once Lamela is settled and starting Soldado will rack up the goals.

I'd still like to see Adebayor to the left of him, but that doesn't look likely.

At times Spurs fans drive me mad. People complained because the likes of Bent and Defoe could only score goals and didn't offer much else and then complain that Soldado, Ade, etc., aren't scoring regularly while creating opportunities for others.

Look. All we want is a combo of proper Ronaldo, Jimmy Greaves and Van Basten. It's not asking for much. Why can't we have nice things?

It will take time for our players to learn his movement and for him to get on the same page as everyone else. We have too many new players at the moment and we need to be patient while it comes together.

A couple of goals will make a huge difference though.

Let's get one thing out of the way first : Soldado was poor today. I know he got the assist but his general link up play and touch was poor as well. I think he really needs a goal as he hasn't fully settled yet and his confidence might start to drop.

However, he was completely isolated and he will continue to be imo against the better teams. It's one thing playing up front on your own in Spain but against players like Terry and Ivanovic you need to be more physically imposing.

He will also benefit massively from Lennon's return imo and Lennon and Lemala will help bring the best out of him more than Townsend, Sig and Chadli.

His movement has been excellent so far this season but apart from Cardiff he hasn't really been presented with too many chances.

We haven't exactly been lining up chances for Bobby.

When the team properly gels, we'll see him in his element. Patience.

In the meanwhile, 4 goals (2 in the league) and 1 assist (or is it more?) isn't exactly disastrous.

Speaking of assists, I couldn't properly see from my seat........should JD have squared the ball when he had that chance soon after the sending off?

Sorry guys and gals, it's all my fault.

I shall promptly be removing Soldado from my dream team and replacing him with Giroud.

That should do the trick ;)
