Liverpool had around 5-6 player's in and their not having any problems seems more excuses again.
You realise we are only 1 point behind Liverpool? you make out we are struggling.

A lot of us hadn't, league position wise. I don't like this constant comparison with the previous regime either, I judge AVB on the here and now.

I think we have a good chance of coming away with at least a point at Goodison and wouldn't be surprised with three. We look far better away so far this season, plus Everton at home won't be parking the bus like Hull, so more attacking space and opportunities for us.uote="only1waddle, post: 3676447, member: 22536"]
Yeah of course I know but they have scored twice as many goals plus are looking good it's a good bet they could take some points of arsenal this weekend on the other hand will we take points from Everton unlikely I would say.

Liverpool didn't lose the player around whom their entire game plan was based.
From an attacking perspective, Spurs started this season from scratch. Liverpool didn't.
what's hilarious about that? you honestly can't see a difference between:

I don't see a single thing disrespectful in what AVB said last week. nothing at all.
But they started the season without him until the last couple if games no dip in results but if we lost our tea lady or kit man the same excuses would be trotted out.
Oh I wasn't suggesting that we should base our judgement of the team on past managers, although I find the constant "well Harry got us here" talk frustrating. I was merely comparing what both men said.
Even if we hadn't had it so good, for the manager to say it suggests that we have no right to be unhappy with some things. AVB didn't suggest that, rather that we weren't giving as much support as we could.
Really do get the feeling that some can't wait to jump on AVB's back. Bizarre considering the points we're picking up and its still early days with so many new faces being integrated.
Pretty shocking really.
I have not seen any, nor do I want to see any crap like 'Harry got us here' and I'm surprised that annoys you as it barely ever gets mentioned.
I do though, expect any person who spends their hard earned money, particularly those that were at Hull, to get the camel when told by a manager that 'we had almost no support'. And I took offence to it. He can say what he wants in the press (3 times in a day to separate outlets), I can say that I'm not happy with it on a spurs forum. I'm not going to boo when I'm at the ground.
I've had many arguments with Spurs fans over the past year or so on a lot of different forums about our time with Harry compared with now so although it may not be present here, there is a lot of it out there and it can be relentless. I appreciate that I shouldn't bring that baggage here.
I'm not questioning your right to voice your displeasure with what he said, nor am I expecting you to not take offence. My point is that what he said he wasn't wrong. Whether he was wrong to say it or not is debatable but the statement itself was not wrong. Being present and supporting are not the same thing.
Personally I think it needed to be said. We can argue whether he should have said it or not until the cows come home.
Personally I think if he's out his box about it he should be apologising for the fact we effectively beat Hull 3-2 over 2 home legs with exceptionally questionable performances.
The support wasn't even negative against Hull (league game), it may have been subdued due to the dour football we were being put through, but as a fan it's sometimes not worth trying to flog a dead horse.
I think some are far too precious about AVB. We're doing ok but just like everyone else he's far from immune to criticism.

I don't get this kind of post. It manages to pack two spurious statements into one short sentence.
1. We are doing way better than "OK". We have an 81.25% win percentage and are conceding 0.44 goals per game. We have 12 clean sheets from 16 matches and have lost 2 of them.
2. No one is "immune from criticism", so that constitutes attacking a straw man to divert attention from a non-argument. It's just that scathing criticism of our presently turgid style is premature. We're grinding out results very effectively with a heavily-revised squad.
It's not a finished product. It's often grim to watch. In the meantime, whilst AVB sorts out the attacking play, at least we have the defensive, match-controlling structure in place and we're getting results that are far better than we are accustomed to seeing from any Tottenham side since - well - 1961 - or perhaps 1987.
It's actually very difficult to achieve this and it's a sign of skilled management. The usual routine when you remodel a squad as heavily as we just have is to lose a lot of matches and use "not having gelled yet" as an excuse. We just keep churning out the workmanlike wins.
Let's see how it looks after we've played Everton, Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool in quick succession. If we lose all four of those and can't score against them, we'll be one third of the way through the season and it might be justifiable to complain.
