I think it's safe to say we finally clicked in the second half and of course what it actually took was some much improved individual performances.

It was Eriksen who ramped it up a notch initially with some driving runs and penetrating balls and this created a bit more space for everyone else including Lamela who really showed his ability and class all game. He took his goal well and I was disappointed although not surprised to see JD take the ball off him for a pen which was all Lamela's making.

If Eriksen and Lamela can keep up that kind of play they should definitely both be starters.

All in all the intensity of the second half was really pleasing and exactly what we've been missing all season.

Paulinho running into the box made that goal, static over clinical play won't get goals, more risk with the final ball please..

Yep, you can't play risk free football and expect to win gamed and with only one striker ever on the pitch, we need more than just Paulihno running beyond the ball.

I think the problem with Mousa, his close control is so good, and he is so confident with not givjng the ball away. He can get too close to the opposition confident they wont get it, then when he passes they are close enough to intercept at times. His release of passes needs to be a bit quicker at times, and I think it comes from his ability to retain ball control does slow it up.

This match was all about Erik Lamela
he showed us all what we knew he could do with a ball :headphone:

First half was quite poor, we use so much time on the ball, and in the end we pass it 4 yards

Second half was a lot better, thanks to Lamela who set the ground on fire

he must start on sunday to.

Saw second half.

First game I've seen for a few weeks and I can see why fans have been frustrated.

The inverted wingers thing is boring and does not offer enterprising attacking play.

I don't understand why AVB persists with it.

It doesn't affect the defensive side of our game ie it's not the reason why we have had so many clean sheets and a low goals against record but if definitely restricts our attacking efforts.

I think moose works better with a player like sandro, defined positions, him and capoue were on top of each other at times.

Only because the FBs aren't overlapping enough. AVB persists with it because he's getting the rest of the team primed on it for when he gets new fullbacks in who can play the system;)

What would help is if we moved the ball around midfield a bit quicker instead of dillying and dallying, doing your fancy shimmy/turn and then playing a telegraphed pass. By the time all that's been done, the opposition has reset themselves with two banks of four.

A bit more energy. Run a faaaackin raaaaand a bit

Walker has the pace but not the final ball, i would rather we go down the AM route, looked much better when they started swapping tonight, Sig left, then right, Lamela right then central, Eriksen central then right, fackin movement.. think we could incorporate Kane as an AM too, sack Lennon off.

I don't mind the passing around the CM's at a slower pace, but we need to play quicker around the box, or at least have players move and make the oppo defenders move, too rigid and static in the final 3rd. second half was better. first half was a master class in passing that goes nowhere.

Now that we qualified to the knockout stages ... we need to start playing Harry Kane more!

If I see one more player pick the ball up wide, cut inside, allow the whole opposition defence get behind the ball and then lose possession i'm going to go insane.

just saw this on Twitter lol

AVB has serious knowledge. Answering a Moldovan journalist and discussing Sheriff's recent league form, the way they rotate goalkeepers...
