Blame the fans for that one AVB. 6 goals from open play and one of those was meant to be a cross. Surely no one can try to claim AVB is a tactically good manager. He has one way of playing and that's it, might work ok away but at home it doesn't, the lack of urgency in the 1st half was awful and playing a high line with Friedel in goal, no surprise to see how Newcastle score.

He can't get the best out of Soldado, Eriksen or Paulinho and god knows when Lamela last had some league minutes. Brings on Defoe and we end up with Dawson as a make shift striker. Tactical genius.

He's an interesting manager, but I think Laudrup is the one who'd be the most likely replacement (and would make a lot of sense if you consider he's Danish, a footballing legend, speaks Spanish, and his teams play attractive football).

That's not to say AVB should be fired any time soon. He will unquestionably get the season, but he'll need to start playing his best 11 or else he'll be in trouble.

AVB's a genius of undoubted talent, thing is he's just picked the wrong sport as a profession. I have thick skin and don't really care about getting flamed on here, but from what we have seen this season he hasn't a clue. He's making every PL side we play look like Barcelona.

Poor tactics, no real alternatives and one hundred percent hype built up about his reputation. We are going backwards in large chunks and those who can tell me they see real progress under him with this team are in denial.

AVB hasn't figured out his starting 11 and it's having a detrimental effect to the teams performance.

Holtby will start next game, probably Capoue.

It'll will be a long time until we get a settled team IMO.

fucking depressing really. why dont wd play with that tempo from the beginning.
sandro and towmsend our best players by far.

worried about rs in this league. great link up player but he really struggles to get any shots off.

We were shite? Really? We had 5, 6, 7 very good attempts at goal. If Krul isn't on top form we get at LEAST 1 or 2. Eriksen lifts his chance off the deck and there's nowhere near as much complaining. 1 strike of the ball doesn't improve a team performance but people on here would react differently. Why bother watching the match if you only judge the score?

I seriously can't fault anyone having a go at AVB. We understand the team needs time to gel but at least some nice decent football played over 2 halves? We seem to have a good 15 minute spell in one half and we lose steam. We seriously can't penetrate any defence with our sloppy play and we have no Plan B when things are going awry. This has been going on for at least a month or so and no improvements have been made. The manager obviously needs to work on that but I personally have not seen anything. All I have been hearing is that 9 goals in 11 games as long we have a good defence. Hello, Mr AVB, if you don't score, you don't win. Simple as that.

They were all saves a keeper is expected to make. It WAS crap finishing, yes Krul had a good game and another day he may not have saved them all but it was our finishing that was at fault. Paulinho and Eriksen guilty of missing sitters.

That stat says it all. Seven of our last 8 defeats have been after a thursday europa league game. Makes you think does AVB know what he's doing. I'm beginning to think not. First half was fucking abysmal and all down to his team selection. Anyone who has watched us this season knows Dembele and Paulinho doesnt work. Dembele for mine is 5th choice CM. In saying that today was simply woeful finishing as we had enough chances to win 2 games.

I'm not sure why so much criticism towards AVB. It is the players who ultimately can't produce in the final 3rd.

The second half was much better today, we totally dominated the half but Newcastles determination to defend was greater than our determination to score.

Defoe and Sigg, yes, don't get why they play.

Not sure we were watching the same game, he was at fault for the goal as shown by the analysis if his foot movements at HT. He was very dodgy for 5 mins before the goal.

the disturbing part is opposing teams don't even need their midfielders to stop our CMs from playing.. just play with 2 upfront and blocked our CBs passages of passes and we are doomed... what tactics?
