I have been an observer of this site for a little while but am mainly on twitter talking and reading Spurs.
Just going to give my thoughts on the current situation & fans views I frequently see & am baffled about.
1) When every team is announced I see, look at our bench, we must have the best bench/squad in the league etc etc. Today Sandro didn't start presumably due to not being 100% fit after asking to come off in our last league game. Instead we have Dembele & Paulinho. At HT I see people slating the fact that Sandro didn't start & that he should always start. Question. Do we have a great squad/bench or not? Under previous regimes I saw ppl crying that we never had squad depth or never rotated & so ran players into the ground.
2) We don't need to play DMs at home. AVB's selection is too negative. It's generally assumed that Sandro/Capone are our DMs and Paulinho/Dembele are our more attacking minded midfielders. Today we didn't start a noted DM in middle of the park, yet it's greeted with negativity after weeks of ppl saying we need to take the head break off at home.
3) Stop playing inverted wingers it don't work. Play wingers on there natural sides & cross the ball. In the same breath these same people are saying Lamela should be stating. Do they realise he played off the right for Roma? Can you imagine if he started on the left for us & didn't impress the amount AVB'S would be slated.
4) In all my years of watching Spurs, whether it be from open play or set pieces, I can probably count on my hands the amount of goals we've scored from balls crossed into the box. There were plenty of games under Harry where Azza played on the right & Bale on the left & we couldn't break down teams or a keeper had 'one of those days'.
5) Also ppl complain about Towsend shooting as it breaks up a carefully measured build up play. Do you realise if you just whip balls into the box & when it gets headed clear that measured build up has come to nothing. The reason for inverted wingers is to create deliberate opportunities rather than hitting the ball into an area & hoping.
Don't get me wrong. We could/should be playing a lot better & for one reason or another aren't but the amount of contradictory drivel I hear spouted is annoying & hilarious in equal measure. For me we don't have enough ppl running past the ball and looking to break defensive lines. Everyone comes short so as not to takes risk or lose the ball.
