I have been an observer of this site for a little while but am mainly on twitter talking and reading Spurs.

Just going to give my thoughts on the current situation & fans views I frequently see & am baffled about.

1) When every team is announced I see, look at our bench, we must have the best bench/squad in the league etc etc. Today Sandro didn't start presumably due to not being 100% fit after asking to come off in our last league game. Instead we have Dembele & Paulinho. At HT I see people slating the fact that Sandro didn't start & that he should always start. Question. Do we have a great squad/bench or not? Under previous regimes I saw ppl crying that we never had squad depth or never rotated & so ran players into the ground.

2) We don't need to play DMs at home. AVB's selection is too negative. It's generally assumed that Sandro/Capone are our DMs and Paulinho/Dembele are our more attacking minded midfielders. Today we didn't start a noted DM in middle of the park, yet it's greeted with negativity after weeks of ppl saying we need to take the head break off at home.

3) Stop playing inverted wingers it don't work. Play wingers on there natural sides & cross the ball. In the same breath these same people are saying Lamela should be stating. Do they realise he played off the right for Roma? Can you imagine if he started on the left for us & didn't impress the amount AVB'S would be slated.

4) In all my years of watching Spurs, whether it be from open play or set pieces, I can probably count on my hands the amount of goals we've scored from balls crossed into the box. There were plenty of games under Harry where Azza played on the right & Bale on the left & we couldn't break down teams or a keeper had 'one of those days'.

5) Also ppl complain about Towsend shooting as it breaks up a carefully measured build up play. Do you realise if you just whip balls into the box & when it gets headed clear that measured build up has come to nothing. The reason for inverted wingers is to create deliberate opportunities rather than hitting the ball into an area & hoping.

Don't get me wrong. We could/should be playing a lot better & for one reason or another aren't but the amount of contradictory drivel I hear spouted is annoying & hilarious in equal measure. For me we don't have enough ppl running past the ball and looking to break defensive lines. Everyone comes short so as not to takes risk or lose the ball.

Man City lose to Sunderland in relegation zone, Pelligrini out. Chelsea getting a lucky pen and draw at home to WBA, Mourinho out. Things cant be that bad with AVB

Very reasonable points that will be appreciated by some and lambasted by others.
As a community there is quite the divide at the moment between those in your camp and those who want to remove AVB so tottenham can revert to the glory days of recent years.

Que? I assume when you say glory you mean our solitary CL appearance, which isn't glory. If not then I assume you mean our style of play. We only used to pride ourselves on our style of play as it was the one thing we could hold onto when we won no trophies. AVB is on the right track to progression up the league and we are in all comps atm. I will hold out on any sort of judgement till end of the season. Ill take substance over style atm considering I can only remember seeing us win one trophy in my life

As far as number 2 is concerned, I do actually think we need to play a DM at home. Just one single DM anchoring as part of a proper midfield 3. Dembele and Paulinho started off today as holding mids, playing deep. It wasn't until Sandro came on that Paulinho pushed forward. Away from home 2 holding mids is fine against teams like City or Arsenal who will look to keep the ball, but at home we should just let 1 player do the defensive duties in midfield and let the rest go forward.

For number 3 - inverted wingers work when they're doing the right job. Townsend isn't passing or playing as a team player and Sigurdsson is anonymous at times. Lamela, albeit against shit opposition, did this job brilliantly on Thursday. He looked to involve everyone else and was unpredictable switching up between running down the flanks and cutting inside, also roaming to find space. Townsend has just become too predictable here and Sigurdsson just isn't a winger, he's a square peg in a round hole.

See I hate this bollocks, for a start I dont want AVB out BUT

you cant compare our situation to City or Chelsea. They both have new managers and they are still finding their feet so to suggest the sack after one defeat is taking the piss. Also they have had some great performances this season. We have had only one good performance against Norwich this season.

If we had scored more goals than fulham than perhaps but as said by others in the AVB contract thread, if we hadnt been winning there would uproar, the performances need to get better otherwise if the results stop going our way, there will questions about AVB and fairly so.

Are we improving?(I'm not so sure)

Why? Other than you are merely bored
Isn't being bored enough? You have your amusements and if they bore you then you get grumpy. Then you move on. I'm thinking of buying a banjo. Couple of tunes I like. The Deliverance theme, of course, but also Clementine, which I sing to my baby daughter. Billy Connolly plays one too. I like him.

The simple fact that you are so full of hubris that you entitled your first post "educating the spurs masses", and then follow it up with a load of commonly known drivel, just shows that you are part of the problem.

That's not true.

Part of the problem with Paulinho is that he was well beyond the ball in the first half a hell of a lot (spent most of the game ahead of Eriksen) This left Dembele so exposed it was untrue, and he (Paulinho) seems to just amble back and it was that space in CM that allowed on 2 or 3 occasions a simple through ball to Remy (which most blamed Dawson for) Dembele compounded it by being uber shite and dwelling more than ever and being caught in possession (which is very rare for him)

Paulinho is not good enough in a 2 man CM, he covers little ground at a very slow speed, has an average passing range and decent technique and pretty much hides from the ball when the defence has it, he is the summer signing i have been most disappointed with.

So while we may not necessarily need a DM at home (although i would have Sandro first name home/away) we need players in CM that can play at a tempo, or at least spot a pass quicker to move/stretch the opposition around. By the time Paulinho or Dembele pass the ball it's to a marked player usually the full back or winger.

Also we have too many players not clever enough to play in a 3 man attack (Townsend and Lennon to name but 2)
Siggy is but unfortunately he has the strength of a new born kitten born with pneumonia...

CM is a big problem for us ATM though.
