How they approach the game is infinitely more important than the names on the sheet. Everyone in that team is a good player, let's see how they do.

It's a bit of a bland centre of midfield but it's strong at least. I would have picked Soldado over Defoe but on the hope that he'd pick up form and not really on a performance basis so I'm not massively disappointed. I would have picked Townsend over Lamela on the left initially but it's a good argument that Lamela may drift in a bit and be one of the people who may add some creativity as it's something that the three in the middle lack.

I don't think i could possibly disagree more! Soldado is constantly on the shoulder of the back four and doesnt drop off enough. The problem is the wide forwards play too deep and dont make enough runs behind the back four! They should be supporting Soldado, dragging away defenders and offering direct pace. If they do that the no.10 can drop deeper link up play and spray the ball about. That's what we need. Not a pacy no.10
He really isn't, he receives too much of the ball with his back to goal and then when he links up play and we get wide players overlapping he is outside the box. He seems to get frustrated too often and find himself looking for the ball when he should be getting better service from midfield so he can focus more on getting into the box more.

Poor selection, Defoe really?

What is the point. We all know what he will bring to the team... Fuck all.

Also playing Lamela out on the left is a waste of time.

AVB already undoing the positive steps he seemingly made last week against United.

Defoe will probably score a couple of goals, get his cock sucked by the 'pundits' and thereby guarantee himself a spot for the next 5 games where he won't contribute. Soldado will probably just lose more confidence seeing Defoe scoring against relegation fodder and wonder why he's here

Only if it doesn't work.

Watch the whole team play well but it gets ruined since Defoe cannot hold a ball if his life depended on it and cannot stay onsides. Soldado better be on after 45....

Fulham's defence gives real cause for hope that we can knock in a few goals.

I don't get some of these selections though. Defoe, as ever, is just a mystifying selection (even though he will probably score tonight, and I have money on him as first goalscorer, I would be expecting all our strikers could score against this team), would always go with Soldado. Lamela doesn't have the pace to play on the left for me, and he is cutting inside on his weaker foot, I think it is the least suitable of the three attacking midfield spots for him.

Lets see how we go... Expecting three points nonetheless.

I don't agree with playing both Sandro AND Capoue, Holtby should have been given a start, he offers more guile

Well, Defoe scored a brace in the same fixture last season so maybe that is why he is starting...

I'm not Defoe's biggest fan but no one likes favourites and everyone deserves chances, besides very few will play all the games.
