Anyone saying that we would have been beaten 4-1 or whatever anyway is just stupid, thats saying tbat somehow, dissallowing a goal, sending a player off and giving themq penalty helped us somehow, haha jokers, just dont get people anynore

I'm not so sure. We were really poor in the first half hour, they were very good. Bentaleb looked nervous, and Sigurdsson and Lennon didn't contribute enough. We rode out the storm however, just like many teams have done against us when we've been on top.

Then we scored (but it was disallowed) and we started to come at them and actually start passing to players in the same team. We finished the half on top, and looked dangerous from set pieces.

The second half was fairly even (the Dembele sub hurt us, because he'd started to boss them) until Rose was sent off…

That killed the game, and we'll never know what might have happened, had:
1. The ref allowed the goal, and
2. Rose been kept on the pitch.

They were better against 10 men of course, and better in the first half hour against 11, but we were never allowed the fightback because of the sending off…

Let's face it, they are better than us, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for us to get a result against them. The ref, however, made it impossible.

You and others are missing the point. How was the midfielder able to take all the time in the world to pick out Dzeko who was free and goal side of our defence?

City put our defence under so much pressure prior to the sending off that we were always liable to make mistakes.

Whether that was down to individuals, team selection or set up is probably a discussion for another thread.

But try looking at the match with as much objectivity as possible and I think you'll find we were never really in it.

WTF does Baldini do anyway? He looks so dapper but is he doing the business?

For me the buck stops with levy and baldini. The fact we paid 10m at least over the odds for lamela should be enough on its own but with the likes of chadli and Chiriches coming in plus Soldado's failure it should be enough to see him gone. Not boas. But he is Levys man. So no chance of that.

Levy has spunked all of bales money on averageness. He has bought a load of derelict land and we are as close to a new stadium as we are to cl football.

Levy is the common denominator to our travails.

The fact we have Sherwood in charge shows he never had a plan b. Another season written off. And another 'transitional' one next year.

Cheers Teflon Dan.

So, I wonder if Tim is going to re- evaluate the role of the defensive midfielder. It's probably in the bit of the pro-licence that he hasn't done. Bentaleb looked a bit lost as did our midfield. Still, I'm sure the natives will have been entertained.

My dipper step-dad (after gloating ferociously) said that there's too much money invested in this sport for decisions like this to be wrong. I'm inclined to agree with him

Conversely, there's too much money in the game for decisions like that to be made correctly against United Arab Emirates City.

Just home from the game, obviously very disappointed, but we were beaten by a very good team who could have been 3 up in the first 15 minutes. I sit in North upper so my view of the controversial decisions wasn't great. Couple of thoughts, Bentaleb, though a great prospect, wasn't ready for tonight and we should have started with Capoue. Also, our goal difference is so poor, another minus 4 really won't make any difference at the end of the season.

Bentaleb didn't have a good game, he's just a kid, it's going to be like that. He has played excellently recently though and had earned his place... I'm intrigued about this magical DM which you speak of though which would of turned the game on it's head... What defensive genius do we have in our squad who didn't play and wouldn't of made everything ok??? Don't kid yourself, they're just better than us, they have a more settled squad, a more settled system behind the scenes and on the pitch, all the money in the world and some absolutely world class talent.

If you're looking to assign blame to a single issue not playing a DM is a pretty deluded one to pick.

Been a tough season so far but it tortures me that this soft underbelly goes on and on conceding 5 and 6 then squashed by London rivals with only the poxy Europa league to play for. No denying it we are nowhere near the top 4 or 5 level and we have hopelessly mis-spent the Bale cash just like we usually do realise injuries haven't helped. Sherwood as just pointed out on MOTD why didn't he start with Capoue and fit his tactics to this deadly opposition? Please learn to rotate and what I see is likely to happen is the players which will leave on Friday are likely to blossom elsewhere just to rub salt into our wounds.

Watched the highlights on MOTD. The disallowed goal was the correct decision, the penalty and sending off incorrect.

Having said that we were struggling from the ko by the look of things and worryingly the pundits comments about Dembele and Bentalebs positioning and lack of protection for the defence seem pretty spot on to me.

Come on Sherwood, you've been given a fantastic management opportunity here, surely you have to have a better understanding of the game!
