Between winning the cup and his sacking we played about 25 games and only won 3.

That was the problem

An intelligent man. Pity he didn't get the current squad to work with.

Sometimes you need to drop before you begin to soar. Its a common trend. Unfortunately many people do not understand it or are too impatient. People laugh at brendan rogers last season and moyes this season. However giving the man time will see the result picking up and performance improving in a positive manner.
2 points from 8 games? Aresenal was struggling not too long ago but at the end of the season beat us to CL place.
Spurs are suffering for our impatience.

He still managed to lose 4-1 to Birmingham with Berbatov in the team. And 4-1 to Newcastle who weren't very good at the time either. Yeah, we sold Berbatov and Keane but we also bought the best midfielder we've had for decades. He still had a very good squad yet managed to start the season by losing to the likes of Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Portsmouth and Hull. Maybe he was cajoled by the interviewer, but a lot of that reads like he's still got a massive chip on his shoulder.

but Modric wasn't the best then, he was just promising

Rainbows as goalposts....that's a good one! I'm not sure we would have scored with rush goalies and jumpers for goalposts either....same applies for earlier this season come to think of it.

Hmmm interesting interview from the most abused Spurs figure since Cambell . Yes , there's 2 sides to every story....but this is the FIRST time we've heard Ramos's side . Penetrating remarks made I'd say .

I was on another general forum and the thread title was about how damaging League cup wins have been to the winner's form . They were saying this has happened to the last 4 League Cup winners or something .

Deffo this prob hit Ramos's team which couldn't do a thing right after the win .

Interesting and uncomfortable read. The Bent for Berbatov and Keane bit, if true shows Levys real intentions. I'll admit I didn't like the light this article puts our clubs hierarchical structure in. Pinch of salt though in fairness, hard to judge Ramos' personality and if he is prone to underhand tactics. That 5-1 was amazing though. Almost worth it.

It's a good read, but it's one side of the story rather than some objective truth. He raises some valid points, but at the same more or less tries to evade his own responsibility. And while he raises the £51m spent on january, he forgets the points gathered with or without him pre-january: 2 points in 8 games versus 15 points in 12.

Also the point about Bentley, I remember at his unveiling, he was laughing and joking with the media - Ramos leant over and whispered something to him, and Bentley's mood immediately dropped as if he were a scolded child. Seemed at that early stage a problem was brewing, this article suggests that was the case. Bentley probably was the antithesis of what Ramos expected in a players attitude.

Fascinating interview. Ramos alludes to exactly why the DOF system as we implement it is ultimately flawed.

The way we go about it is flawed, you are bang on there.

We seem to force two people to work together as opposed to creating a proper partnership.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Ramos he was clearly undermined and totally shafted, Levy making squad decisions and leaving him with Bent and Campbell.. It was some shocking shite we served up.

Fucking hell he had some dross in that squad, we wasted a ton of cash on Bent, Bentley, Pav.

Yes, funny how he skips over that bit. Funny how he doesn't mention his failure to get the best out of Modric, funny how he doesn't mention the multitude of players we bought for him prior to his sacking, the Woodgates, the Corlukas etc.

Also funny how as soon as he left, Harry got that same team scoring goals, without rainbows.

Yes, not mentioning all of that makes the points he did discuss or raise completely invalid :D

First of all, Sid Lowe is a ****. He has a massive chip on his shoulder about British football, his voice on the Guardian podcast and his "I know the ins and outs of every club in Spain because I live here" used to make my skin crawl, he's on a par with Guillem Bala****.

No doubt there is an element of truth in the article and it reaffirms my belief that Commolli is one of the biggest ****s that has ever been involved in football. He gives the rest of us hope.

However, Ramos is shirking a lot of blame, a lot of the transfers that he talks about didnt happen until after the League Cup, we had a shed load of games and barely won at all after the victory. His refusal to play Ledley King in any league games and one of the most nonsense first team selections in our 2-0 defeat away at Pompey when Gilberto was pushed out to LWF seem to be conveniently forgotten, both by him and Lowe.

While an entertaining read, it's 50/50 as to whether it's relevant data or complete Jackanory.

And Juande's side of the blame? Never bothered to learn the language, so we hear nothing from him. He was a man in the background to us, he could never explain himself so why is it so hard to believe that we blamed him?
He was learning the language I remember the painful interviews in spanglish.

I don't think he's missed that, look at the comments regarding Modric and Bale in there. Reads to me like the thing he's complaining about is that it was done to a level that was at the expense of the team, and without taking into account the thoughts of the head coach.

Hardly a million miles away from things said by Ramos' predecessor or from AVB.

But the things they say are we want player X, Y, Z at a combined cost of £100M.

Mullers, you do know where Villa ended up? Barcelona right? I'm sure if Levy had even slightly calmed his hard negotiations we wouldn't have been able to compete with Barcelona getting David Villa in his prime
And what if Levy had calmed his hard negotiations and done the deal quietly and quickly before Barcelona come calling?
What if we DON'T announce to the whole world that Willian is having a medical before he's actually signed a contract???

Then perhaps the compromise should be "well you can have one/two and have to bring through youth to fill the gaps" rather than "OK, we can't afford that, here are 3 players for those positions who cost about 2/3 of that but aren't really similar or as good"?

'He speaks highly of Jermaine Jenas, who "always offered tactical solutions' - Jesus H. Christ. Jenas. Tactics.

No wonder we got spanked 4-1 by Brum AND Newcastle.

You only have yourself to blame Juande.
