If and it is a big if that Levy wants to back Sherwood then this is the perfect opportunity to publicly back Sherwood, to echo Sherwood's disappointment regarding the embarrassing defeats this season. Maybe even thank the clubs supported for the endless support.

Although Tims assessment hits hard but it's the bloody truth.

Can I suggest that Tottenham employ a media adviser because hearing players talk themselves and the team up about top four is embarrassing. Hearing the same thing again and again. Time for a dose of reality.

I am fucking disgusted by the shit I saw last night. Another utter capitulation. I hope Sherwood fines the whole squad.

The only thing he could have done was to knock the ball across our 18 yard box without looking? You're right, completely blameless...
He had two choices: let the Chelsea player next to him have it or kick it away. He chose the latter. Where it went was unfortunate. If you can think of another option while he was sitting on his arse under pressure from an opponent then I'd be interested to hear it.

Kick it out of play?

That was something King was fantastic at (among many, many other things). I lost count of the amount of times King would identify a difficult situation and simply boot the ball out for a throw-in or a corner.

Don't know why people are praising that interview. What manager worth his salt castigates his players in public? Not many would. More harm will come of this.

If this interview happened to any other team we'd all be laughing at a 'managerial breakdown'.

We don't take defending seriously. But then I bang on boringly about this, so my apologies. We go on about trying to get hold of brilliant strikers, creative mids and so on, but if we could develop (which may take time, I know) or buy reliable, intelligent players in defence it would be a huge plus (and not just in terms of goal difference). I may be being unfair - forgive me - but are Dawson, Rose, Walker really solid and alert defenders (even Vertonghen)? It really shouldn't be a 'let's make do' part of the team...
Broadly speaking, we shouldn't make do anywhere. But our main problem now is to remove the lingering stench of AVBs caution and neglect of attacking by overhauling our offense. One reason for defensive pressure and lapses is that we are bloody hopeless as an attacking force these days, so no matter how much possession we have, we barely create a chance, let alone score. So our opponents carry all the threat, even with less possession, and wave after wave of decent attack comes at us, while wave after wave of ponderous possession is all we offer.

Your solution sounds like a Big Sam solution - just defend better and hope to grind out 0-0 or 1-0 wins. And obviously that beats 4 goal tonkings. But it is too limited for us. We need to return to an incisive game plan whereby we have a purpose to our possession and we take the pressure off the defence by trying to bloody win games and not just survive them.

If there was contact guess we can't complain as we have had the odd important soft penalty this season. It now seems everyone falls to the floor if touched in the penalty box
...summed up in the Sky commentary where it was claimed that Loris was lucky to stay on because Hazard "chose to stay on his feet" early in the first half. Their expectation is that an attacker is a mug if he fails to go down as soon as he feels any contact in the box

It has been stated on here that as a club we don't have a top four mentality. Not entirely true as we have finished in the top four in the last few years, so we have shown we do. I would say that we have lacked a top four mentality this year and not sure who to blame.

I think a 'top 4 mentality' is artificial. How exactly does it differ from a top 5 mentality or a top 3 mentality? What we lack is a winning mentality. When we are up a goal we hunker down and back off content to try to defend for a 1-0 win rather protect that lead by attacking for more goals. When we go down to quality opposition we lose heart and start half-assing it, moping around the pitch rather than playing with some pride.

When Mourinwh*re put on Ba I knew he smelt blood and wanted to get his out of form strikers some confidence at our expense. I really hate that guy, he is a first class pr*ck, but he is ruthless and a winner and he seems to instill that attitude into his players.

Agreed, really don't see what there was to like about that interview. It was a fan whining and looking totally dejected after a difficult game, not a manager giving an assessment of the game or suggesting a way forward.

He looked overly emotional and beaten and as you say i would have been rubbing my hands in glee if i saw one of our rivals managers like that because it would tell me hes lost the players and doesn't have a clue how to rectify the problems. Can you imagine Fergie, Mourinho or Wenger ever looking that beaten and dejected after a game? Angry maybe but down and defeated? No chance.

Exactly. He must be a slow learner. How long is he looking at Dawson kicking it out of play

Everyone else is laughing anyway and by the sounds of it so are the players.

I have no problem with how Tim did his interview yesterday and his tactics worked well in the first half, unfortunately he didn't have a plan b. Before the game, I thought if we conceded, then the floodgates would open because that is the Tottenham way and it is a bitter pill to swallow. The players let Tim and the fans down yesterday, and it was disgusting to see Vertonghen strolling around behaving like he had already left the club. There are no leaders in our team and no spirit.

I always thought we were going to lose and I did say 3-0 beforehand, but I didnt think that I would feel this way about it. Just feels like we are rotten to the core and only a mammoth overhaul and a disciplined manager like LVG may change things

I am not a Tim hater, but i think he is a bit green and I don't think that this is the right time for us to be a guinea pig for a young up and coming manager.

Just watched the interview. I liked what he said. I just wish he said the same words with anger, he just looked dejected, but the words are true. If the players want to finish top 4 they need to stop talking about it and start playing like it.

Two ways to look at the Sherwood interview.

1 - about time. For too long have we let these kind of performances be swept under the rug.

2 - a great way to the lose the dressing room.

As a fan I prefer 1. I don't care about the players feelings when they earn in a week what I earn in a year. They are very well rewarded regardless of performance.

I'm not sure if Sherwood is the solution but the solution needs 2 years to rebuild.

The bottom line is that we had never played that formation before and players were out of position. Why play Lennon CAM FFS? Hardly the time to experiment. If I was one of the players, I'd probably mention that on the goddamn motorway! My biggest problem with the interview was the line 'some players I can rely on, others not'. Well, you picked em for the match buddy! Why would you not play a fit paulinho over bentelab? He has to take some responsibility!

You couldn't see the anger?

He was seething but i don't think shouting and swearing at the interviewer would have been the right approach.

Hats off to Sherwood for throwing down the gauntlet to the quitters in the team, i think we have at least one in the club who gives a fuck, trouble is there might not be too many more.

I can see the better quality players leaving this summer . It's going to take a long time to get back to where we want to be . To many players brought in without premiership experience . I think the team needs rebuilding. Can see Lloris , Vertonghen , Dembele all leaving this summer which leaves us with a lot of average players .
