Feeling it's all about managerial prem experience.
If our "stars" don't stay we'll get new stars... I'll be happy with Poch... We can't do any worse than we've done in the last season. I'm just very keen to support the team and get behind the new appointment - s'long as he's not serving tapas & paella!!

Famous last words but I don't see anything happening until after the CL Final. At that point it will be clear if Ancelotti is available and if LvG hasn't joined Manu then I'd expect them to go for Ancelotti and us LvG. If this doesn't happen then LvG goes to Manu and we choose from among Poch, FdB and Benitez. My preference would be FdB so we can try and copy the Ajax model.

Dream scenario is of course Manu appoint LvG and then Ancelotti comes to us.

I don't think that's really it.

The delay on United announcing LVG is agreeing on the structure of the coaching staff, Giggs etc..IMHO.

Just an aside, you don't copy the Ajax model. That kind of philosophy is grown organically by the club itself over many yrs and decades so that it becomes second nature. If we get FDB then great but we'll not turn into a club with a cohesive footballing structure from the 7 yr olds up to the first team unless he's here for about a decade or so.

Anyone seeing that happening? Yeah, me neither.

Get FDB in if we think he's a good coach and could help us keep or attract new players. Not because of something that requires patience, the ability to take the rough with the smooth and self-conviction - qualities that this club is severely lacking in, if not completely devoid of, at this point.

I'm hoping against hope that Grey Fox's belief that elements at United have misgivings about van Gaal may have some real weight. It's certainly plausible.

Given the history over ENIC's tenure (and really, since KB walked 30-odd years ago) I don't hold out too much hope of any of the current candidates lasting more than a couple of seasons, so which gets the Dear Leader's nod is irrelevant. Eight years ago we finished in fifth with 65 points. This season we were four points better off and one place worse off. There's a lesson there, if only Levy and some of our fans could see it.

Pochettino still strikes me as rash. If we wanted him, why didn't we go hammer and tongs in December? What has changed?
Exactly this, especially as Cortese left around that time surely we could have dealt with it then instead of twiddling our thumbs for the rest of the season. I just can't quit get my head round what is going on at our club at the moment. What has FDB done to no longer warrant an interview? There is no rush, we have time. A lot of things could change in the next two weeks!

what is all this "we had 6 months to look for a new manager" that people are saying?

It IS against the law to approach anyone directly for a position someone is already in. Fact.

That is why we distanced ourselves when Ajax came out and said we had made contact.

If they're smart, then they knew what they were doing.

I would take FdB further talk in the media, as an attempt to rekindle talks i.e when he said "when the season is finished I will sit down and talk". Yet the damage seems to have been done

Let's see what the Saints fans are saying:

On many of us not wanting Poch:

"Spurs don't deserve him -awful support, just a few chavvy chromosomes removed from Chelsea fans and a bit more ethnically diverse than the joey essexes down the Boleyn. If it aint flashy or new, theyre not interested. Forget that's why they've been so s**t since Arry left. What has FdB achieved outside a very poor domestic league in European competitions? Arguably he's more of a gamble than MP."

This is coming from a Saints fan remember.

One person referred to Levy and Barnett as being part of the "North London Jewish Mafia".

Interesting way of looking at it.

Some of their fans seem to be in denial. They get happy when someone says there has been no contact or no meeting but the sad truth is that if we were to make an approach, there isn't much they could do.

There's a food chain in football. We've been the victim of it several times (e.g. Madrid buying our players) but we are above Southampton at the moment so if we want Poch, I'm extremely confident we would get him.

They seem interested in peoples' ethnicity or heritage. Why any of that relevant I do not know.

We are a shit fan base though. No denying that.

Possible, yeah. I just don't think Madrid will get rid of Anceloti but time will tell.

I agree with the gist of your second point. But a high turnover of managers at least brings some excitement in the hope we've found our messiah - even if its totally delusional!

Whilst Levy's hands on approach has obviously been to our benefit, you can't help but think that the structure and politics of such will prohibit and compromise any manager from reaching his full potential here. The irony is that contributes to his dismissal and we repeat the cycle, hoping for that perfect fit were we achieve rapid progression and success all done under Levy's operating methods.

We're a bit of a paradox really.

You also said Tom Carroll will be our next Modric. You are delusional.
Well, Dr Spurrific, seen as though we've properly brought him through and my hypothesis has been thoroughly tested and disproved, I have no other option but to concede to your prognosis.

I hold my hands up. Fair play. You're on super solid ground here.

You're worth every penny btw. Get a more comfortable couch though...and do something about the flies.

All fans turn into turd if the team produces rubbish displays week in week out. Look at Newcastle, despite having 50k fans the ground was referred to as a morgue recently. Even my local team (Middlesbrough), the fans used to sing their hearts out when they had Ravenelli, Juninho and co and were in the prem ... now you can hear a penny drop.

That Saints fan speaks a lot of sense...

We've had 6 months to asses our best options! Do you honestly think we haven't spoken to any managers or their agents while Sherwood was employed. You need to wake up and smell the coffee. The same thing happens when teams tap up players. You think Real Madrid waited for Tottenhams permission to approach Bale? Surely you're not that naive.
