Telegraph quote from yesterday: "Tottenham are in the market for a new central defender, a left-back and a left-sided forward player."

I would presume that is provided none of our strikers leave. Personally, I'm hoping the interest in Soldado is real and we can bring in someone like Remy, who can also play as a WF. Think he would really make a difference.

Apparently Poch likes Kane, asked about his availablity in January. As for the others who knows

I can see him playing kane in the position he played rodriguez in at southampton quite a bit. kane has played their a bit when younger for us as well.

Does say midfielder/forward so may have had a deeper role previously. I have no idea.

According to Wiki he was a winger until last year when the Equador manager put him up top after Benitez died. Explains why he had 27 in 131 then 18 in 22. Bit of a late Henry move it seems. As a 6-8m punt it may be worth a go but no more i'd say given age and lack of reputation. I guess he'll be playing England tomorrow night so we can have a look - maybe this is why the "he's available" chat is coming around this week. A showcase before the showcase!

Very logical itk - Rather we try to improve the first 11 than the squad this time around.

LB first (Ben Davies has smoke I think), CB second (Lovren has smoke too) and then its a case of moving on 5-6 and seeing if we can bring in a bit more quality. For me that would mean someone like Remy and possibly another creative hub like Bangea to balance the squad and not break the bank! I know we all want to see the big purchases, but I really think we can strengthen without going mad. Extra revenue towards the new stadium makes senses at the moment.

I just hope we don't ship out too many and leave ourselves short like we have done in the past!

If we're thinning the squad versatility is key. Players like Daley Blind. We've been linked in the past.

three of the best players i've seen at this club were not quick smith ;gilzean ;sherringham;being fast does not permutate to being good although it is a big help
most of the speedsters seem to dissappear very quick once their pace goes
whereas the players that rely on nous seem to have longer carreers

Glad we're looking at LB and CB. I'll be very disappointed though if we don't sign a striker as well.
We don't need another striker if we keep our current three, Pochettino always plays with one striker so it would be Soldado, Adebayor and Kane up for one position adding a fourth would be a waste.

Di Marzio says that Napoli are after Sandro whilst Roma chase Dembele and Paulinho and lots of clubs are after Capoue. Personally think the last line is most interesting
"Only one will leave. That’s why it’s better to hurry up."

I we're going to sell one, it's a tough choice. I'd probably be minded to let one of Sandro and Dembele go because of the persistent injury problems...

As long as that one isn't Sandro I'm ok with it. Paulinho flatters to deceive for me but deserves another season to show what he can do. If we get a silly offer though I wouldn't be devastated to see him go. Dembele is a good player but way overrated imo. Fantastic dribbler but no end product whatsoever and unable to pass convincingly unless it's backwards or sideways.

Not if it was Remy who can play as a WF.

Lambert and Rodriguez were first choicers. With Kane happy to play anywhere, at this stage of his career, and Adebayor dropping deep, wide and wherever at times, this is plenty of scope for two forwards to start.

I don't think that most fans particularly want big purchases so much as good players that can fill the weak positions. When you look at players like Kono with a buy out of £12 mill, Batshuayi with an £8 mill buy out, Banega with Valencia supposedly wanting £5 mill and with comparatively cheap players like Clasie, De Vrij, Corchia etc likely to be gettable this summer I think there are a number of good reasonably priced options
Personally I'd be more than happy with any of the above added to the squad as they would significantly increase our balance and competition for places
The other factor in getting a few reasonably priced players in key areas it still leaves the possibility of getting a bigger priced player in one key position if it's felt that player offers much better value than other options for the role

I actually would fear getting those players as if you add them to:

Lloris, Vertonghen, Walker, Sandro, Paulinho, Eriksen, Lamela and Soldado, plus our squad

The legitimate target has to be to win the league.
