If we are prioritising LB and CB, maybe we should be putting a mega offer in to Southampton for Shaw and Lovren (in the hope that working with Poch entices them), say £40m+.

Sounds like crazy money but if we are shifting 8-10 fringe players we will be bringing at least that amount of money in, and likely a fair bit more, and that would be the two priorities well covered in one fell swoop.

I'd imagine we would at least test the waters in respect of those players...

Well if we are actively pursuing a left back then without trying to state the bleeding obvious it would tell me that we will look to shift Rose out - most likely to Sunderland. Fryers will deputise as well as providing at least some extra depth at CB.

As for centre backs, well Kaboul really does need to get over these injury concerns because whereas King could come in and give 8/9 out of 10 performances, Kaboul has struggled and whilst I do think his skill set is brilliant for a CB, we need to forge a defensive unit that would play pretty consistently over a long arduous season.

I'd be surprised if QPR don't come calling for Dawson - in which case, a decent fee of £8million would be achievable but going back to the point at hand, if we are looking at CB's then one of Kaboul/Dawson are going (can't see both leaving) IMO.

Not sure I agree with your reasoning. There were times last season where we had Sandro, or another stand in, at CB and other games where one of the CBs came straight back from injuryt to playing, not even on the bench. With so many games, including EL, I am not sure 4 CBs will be enough.

RE:Cryptic

I actually remember this movie!

I looked up the quote and it is from the scene where Kane is purchasing The New York Enquirer. He is blasted by the former owner for purchasing "things" that he doesn't really need.

--------

I would guess this means our dear leader is about to make a purchase that isn't high-priority, and he is having a little tussle with someone over it.
a purchase that isn't high-priority = ACM ... Maybe Hakan as ITK suggested we were intrested in him

Come on guys, its really easy, the central character of Citizen Kane is called Charles Foster Kane....

So clearly the answer to the cryptic is that Mr Levy is having KFC for dinner.

Adebayor to be replaced by Kane would make sense, if we were to bring in someone like Remy who would cover the left sided role and of course could play through the middle.

Soldado, Remy and Kane would be a nice trio.

As long as that one isn't Sandro I'm ok with it. Paulinho flatters to deceive for me but deserves another season to show what he can do. If we get a silly offer though I wouldn't be devastated to see him go. Dembele is a good player but way overrated imo. Fantastic dribbler but no end product whatsoever and unable to pass convincingly unless it's backwards or sideways.

Sandro made fifteen appearences last season under two managers. As our main defensive midfielder this simply is not good enough. If the money was right i'd be tempted to sell. An injury prone player in that kind of a vital position is no good for a team wanting CL football.

It doesn't say Top 4 to me. At all. Especially when you contrast it with the teams around us (bar Everton). If we sell Ade it needs to be because we have a top tier replacement.
