Love a Croatian me.

Same. They produce the best midfielders in the world per capita IMO, and I personally love the way in which they play. The most well-rounded, yet enjoyable to watch players anywhere at the position. The fluidity with which they tackle, dribble into into an advantageous position, and then lay off the ball is just stunning.

So what's the word on Vlasic then? Is there still interest in him as well?

There hasn't been any talk since. Can't see Hajduk letting him go (yet).

Balic
is highly rated, but Vlasic is considered the bigger talent. Standout performances as of late (for their U19 side).

I know Mario Pašalić has looked outstanding recently, so how does Balić compare as a prospect?

That's not really a fair comparison mate, Pašalić is one of the fastest rising profiles in Europe at the moment while Balić is far younger and only just recently seeing time in his club's senior team.

I just mean when Pašalić was a few years younger. I'm assuming Pašalić was probably on Dinpomp's radar for awhile and can compare them in an apples to apples way because of his Croatian knowledge.

Gotcha. My apologies for my assumption.

No worries, you weren't wrong. It would be unfair to compare the two as they are now just as it would be unfair to compare Pasalic to Modric as they are now.

I feel we have been down the 'signing the next Croatian ace' quite a lot in the last few windows

hope this one finally comes to fruition

Agreed - apparently "sign thin Croatian midfielder with girly hair" has been our philosophy for a while now

As it should be. Yugoslavians overwhelmingly fare well in every league they're brought to, and Croatians in particular. I'm delighted to see us get in there and pull some out before the Germans get to them, who have wisely been doing so for quite some time now and have only increased their scouting in the area.
