No smoke without fire, allegations of rape don't come from thin air. He'd fit in at chelsea

How about, for example, a smoke machine? the point being that there's often smoke without a fire and that's the kind of bollocks people say to justify their flimsy assumptions...

Yeah, Greg Stobart is reporting we've done a deal with him and he's impressed by Spurs and the direction of the club but that he has not signed anything until he finds out if the goons want him.

Now, at first glance that sounds pretty hard to swallow but if you remove the fact that it's our bitter rivals, it appears to be more a case of whether the team in the CL wants him then he'd make that move, understandably, but if not then he likes the idea of playing for us.

Not ideal but if we're planning to sell Soldado then I think he'd be a good replacement.

Assuming we can get back the £13m we owe on Soldado, best case scenario would be to get Remy at £9m (release clause) and pick up Jay Rodriquez on a cheap deal (last year of contract). We could probably just about break even if those deals fell into place and I for one would be excited about the prospect of Adebayor, Remy and Rodriquez as our main forward with Kane backup.

Not surprised in the slightest and i don't really blame him ether. He has clearly wanted to go to Arsenal for a long time and fair play to him if he wants to try and make that happen. Obviously if this is true i dont want him at Spurs, but then again i never really wanted him here anyway so i am unfazed. I would much rather we go for a young up and coming striker, there are plenty out there.

Any scenario where we ditch Soldado before we give him an opportunity to play under a manager who sets his team out to get the best out of strikers like Soldado is a terrible one.

I like Remy. Don't like his injury record though - that is my only concern. Wanted him last summer but he seemed to pick up lengthy injuries at Marseille and that was also the case at Newcastle

I like Remy but that just leaves a shit taste in the mouth even if its understandable from the point of view of the player.

Don't want him here for a number of reasons. Hope the goons get him. That'll mean they don't buy a top class striker at least.

I'm not overly fussy either way. If we sign then him then fair enough he will likely turn out to be a good addition.

If we don't then again, not all that bothered, I think there are similar players that are younger with arguably more upside.

Would prefer Rodriguez (even with that injury) and in the meantime see if Chadli can become a key player in that LW role. Which I personally think he can.

Also would prefer to keep Soldado for at least one more season so that he's not branded a flop and I also feel, like others, that he has the tools to be a brilliant player for us.

If we don't manage to sign another forward come September 1st I'd be pretty pissed off knowing that Remy was available put it that way.

I think we lack pace up front in any case, something we've missed since Bale left, would be a welcome addition to our squad.

I don't understand the talk that he is a mercenary. How so? QPR purchased him, and he didn't want to play in the championship when they went down, so he was loaned out. Now, teams are activating his buyout clause, and he is looking at moving from a bottom of the table side to a top of the table side. I don't understand how any of that makes him a mercenary.

I'm not sure why it's automatically assumed he'd be set to be our LWF were he to come to Spurs. It seems people are making this assumption based on A) his ability to play there, B) no movement of a striker out of the club, and C) because Poch used a high LWF at Saints. We already have this type of player in Chadli, so I don't particularly see why people assume he'd be chosen specifically to play this role. He could certainly provide cover, but it seems to me with talk of both our senior strikers leaving (likely to be one of them), I would expect Remy to come in primarily to play striker.

He wants to wait for Arsenal but why should Spurs wait for him ?

I've no doubt we have explored, and are continuing to explore, other options; but this caliber of player for the money is very hard to pass up. I'm rather pleased to see this information if I'm honest, and if it's true it looks like I'll be owing this site another donation.

Depends how bad we want him I suppose

As well as who else we have on our shopping list and what their availability is

I don't think we as fans should hold this suggestion against him - firstly we don't even know if it is true and secondly 95% our our squad would probably rather play for Arsenal than us all things being equal

I imagine a lot of that has to do with the Arsenal part of the story. It wasn't good before Sol, but now it's really terrible. And while we might be able to take a player from them, as it is a different type of thing, watching him work us to get to Arsenal taps into what ****-cakes did to this club. It not quite the same, but it's close enough that it will tap into that anger that still exists.

And at this point, we should rescind any offer. And I don't suggest this because I'm mad at the Arsenal thing; but, enough people will be that he's basically going to be marked as the new Ghaly (without having given teeth for the club) and it will only take one poor performance for him to take up the mantle.

And that's even if the story turns out to be untrue. Because once people get mad about this, they won't bother with any changes to the narrative down the road.

It's a bad idea to pursue him at this stage.

The thing about Soldado though is that he's a pure poacher like JD was - only better technique but lacking the physicality. Truth be told I don't think he'll fit in Poch's system which makes use of a target man more than a poacher. That's how I see it at least

Arsenal are in the CL. I don't blame him for considering them an option before us
