Arsenal are in the CL. I don't blame him for considering them an option before us

This, and let's also remember that at the age at which Remy was really coming into his development, both physically and mentally, Vieira was dominating midfields across England while we were languishing in literally midtable. Arsenal is extremely popular among the African-French demographic.

We may someday see a time in which we reap the rewards of our recent rise on the global scene with players coming through dreaming of playing for us, but that's still likely another decade away.

I'm not saying that it isn't logical. But logic will play little into the mindsets of people who will totally see this through emotional lenses. And if the name-calling is already starting, you can kind of predict that the trajectory is only downwards from here.

And to be fair, I question this signing on intelligence alone. It's not like Sol and Petit happened a lifetime ago. If he's not smart enough to keep his mouth shut about his preference......I mean c'mon.

The thing about Soldado though is that he's a pure poacher like JD was - only better technique but lacking the physicality. Truth be told I don't think he'll fit in Poch's system which makes use of a target man more than a poacher. That's how I see it at least

I disgaree. He is far more than a pure poacher like JD and it is illustrated by his link up play and clever movement that we have seen throughout last season. If played in the correct system he is the embodiment of goals. His first touch is excellent, his finishing (on the evidence of his career) is very good and his movement is leaps beyond anything JD could ever offer. Plenty of strikers haven't settled in their first season in England and plenty of strikers have gone on to be revelations once they have. Patience is the key with Soldado, we won't find abetter striker that we can sign imo.

He may be right, but Stobart has an excellent record when it comes to us and I've never heard of "Lyall Thomas".

Who would call their son Lyall? It half-rhymes with Liar :cautious:

And to be fair to Stobart, he didn't actually say that Remy has agreed to join us yet.

I think he's a good player but I wouldn't want him as our main striker.

Think his versatility and presumably low price-tag make him a very good option though.

If we don't manage to sign another forward come September 1st I'd be pretty pissed off knowing that Remy was available put it that way.

I think we lack pace up front in any case, something we've missed since Bale left, would be a welcome addition to our squad.

I'd find it so difficult to be pleased. I'm so conditioned to hating him by now it'll be difficult to change

How about, for example, a smoke machine? the point being that there's often smoke without a fire and that's the kind of bollocks people say to justify their flimsy assumptions...

Whilst I agree with you about people making rash assumptions, I must point out that smoke machines do not produce smoke, but a vapour made by heating glycols or similar materials. Smoke is a mixture of combustion products (solids, liquids, and gases). It, therefore requires combustion (or at least pyrolysis). So, I'm afraid that there really is no smoke without fire (except for pyrolysis).

Sorry for this - but we should always strive to be scientifically accurate.

They say Remy is waiting for Arsenal. As far as I'm concerned Remy can just jog on. If any offer has been made then it should be withdrawn. He can give another club the pleasure of his over-inflated talents...

Ideal for us, we need a left sided striker, someone in the ITK thread was banging on about Bony and Benteke but they are not left sided strikers, Remy ticks every box bar fitness and if Poch is as good as people say he is he will get Remy into shape

Yeah, how dare a player want to go to a better club in a better position with a better manager and better players as opposed to us.
