I'm guessing the Tevez link has maybe become a possibility with Argentine as manager.

Personally I would rather stick with the mix of strikers we already have. That's mainly because there are question marks over Tevezs character. There is no doubting his ability though.

Agree over tevez but ade, soldado and kane are not good enough imo to score enough ideally we need a 25-30 goals a season man and not one of them again imo is that so we need someone who can do that without costing a lot tricky.

No way is Tevez going to go from 150k+ a week to 70k just because we have an Argentine manager, as much chance as Rooney giving up 200k a week to go play for an English manager at Hull Tigers, nationality dont mean shit

JJ will kill this rumour off in no time

There's hardly any strikers that manage 25-30 league goals in a season in a major league, rare to hit 20, Adebayor managed 24 once, Soldado managed 24 once and Tevez managed 23 once and 20 on another occasion, so you have dismissed two of the few strikers that have managed to beat 20 and are looking at one to score 25 to 30 without costing a lot

I admire your optimism:)

Just about to say the same thing.

Maybe part of the reason we are wanting to get rid of those fringes players make 40k+ per week, is to create room on the wage bill to bring in a higher earner as well as thin out the squad

I'm really starting to feel like we are being left behind by our direct rivals now.

They are stealing a march on us.

I hear you but signing players does not guarantee instant success.
As the club that sold Elvis & signed S Club 7 we should know this better than any.

That was always gonna happen as we can't compete with the cash being bastarded about on players at hugely overblown prices and poch won't want to just start mercilessly gouging until he's had a good look.

What we will be doing is developing something with an extremely solid core that will see us through the next 3-5 years - and a new stadium - in very good shape imo.

Even though we won't get CL this year (imo) I'm super positive about where we're heading. This season will be defining for us, not by our position but by what we will have absorbed into our playing culture and mentality come the end of it.

At the end of next summer's transfer window I'd be surprised if there are any glaring weaknesses in the squad.

We should all be positive.

Are you doing some guesswork again?
Solskjær signed a Norwegian at Cardiff
AVB wanted Moutinho (who I believe wanted to come)
Wenger re-signed Flamini (and have Giroud)
Sherwood wanted British players
Poch signed Osvaldo (which didn't work out).
I could find more if I cared to look beyond my memory.
How can you state that mutual nationality does not come into play, and prove it with a only a highly hypothetical scenario?

Maybe this is the ambition which was sold to Hugo lol!!
Before the World Cup:

Levy: Hugo, I promise you we'll sign a great striker. You know, someone like Tevez, one of the best in Europe.
Lloris: Mr Levy, I'm sold- I'll sign the new contract right now. Announce it after the World Cup though as I want no distractions.

After the World Cup:

Levy: See Hugo, told you we'd sign a great striker- Origi was great at the World Cup for Belgium.
Hugo: Have Barca signed a new goalkeeper yet?
Levy: Yes. They've signed 2. *Evil hysterical laughter*

that's why i think we should either keep our money in our pockets or only invest in youth, even if it costs a lot. there's not a great deal of point spending big on 7s when our rivals are buying 9s and 10s.

Say you have a harem, right? And some of the ladies are a 6. Would you not upgrade to 7s even if the neighbour has more 9s? Sorry, just had to. I get your point, and I agree to some extent.

Agree with you. And even if one does exist meeting those two criteria, will he be willing to join us as no doubt, most of the CL eligible clubs will be lining up for his signature too.

We must have a very small transfer kitty if our incomings are dependent on the sale of Dawson and Sigurdsson.

Not entirely surprising I suppose but it's clear that people are going to have to be realistic about how much transfer activity we'll see this Summer.

As for the Vertonghen ITK I really hope that's right. Whilst he wasn't great last season, he's clearly a class act and if we can get him and Lloris to sign new contracts that's a very good sign that the players already have confident in what Poch wants to do.

Generally I think this window is going to be about getting the best out of our existing players, rather than bringing in boat loads of new players...and personally I think that's no bad thing.
Could the issue over selling Dawson and Siggy be down to the fact that both are homegrown...
