Are you doing some guesswork again?
Solskjær signed a Norwegian at Cardiff
AVB wanted Moutinho (who I believe wanted to come)
Wenger re-signed Flamini (and have Giroud)
Sherwood wanted British players
Poch signed Osvaldo (which didn't work out).
I could find more if I cared to look beyond my memory.
How can you state that mutual nationality does not come into play, and prove it with a only a highly hypothetical scenario?

I can think of 150,000 reasons (per week) why he will never come

Players, well 99% of them, think with their wallets not their nationality

He wouldn't though.

He took a paycut to go to Juve. I don't think he's on 150k to start with. We CAN afford a wage that would bring him here. The key point is interest, fee, and the player himself, not his wages.

He has silverware in Italy and CL football next season too

Honestly, why would he come?

Goat bleeting about Dier and Ginter.....like it, young CB's who we would be able to stick into a rotation as a 3rd/4th selection....would still love to get a clear cut 2nd option in case Kaboul turns into glass again.

Wasn't he on 200k at Man City? I thought he took a pay cut to 150k to join Juve and I can't see him taking another 50k (or more) to join us, especially when he has CL footy and a very high chance of trophies where he is at now.

Full quote for info:

"The Goat said:

A few things that have reached The Goat.

We could go after Eric Dier our scouts have watched him a lot last year. Also we have watched Matthias Ginter as well. Both good defenders who we have been tracking. Ben Davies deal is not dead either but players agent is touting him to Liverpool more than us.

Lukaku/Bony. The Goat hears that a striker is not a priority atm. But could change if Ade is out longer than expected."

Must say I don't know too much about Ginter, but 20 years old with 70 first team appearances and a German International when there is so much talent around looks impressive on the surface.

Eric will more than likely be the main target as only 1 year left on contract I think. Dortmund stiffing around ginter so I would imagine he would be more inclined to go there.

Ginter is rated as the best young defender in Germany. My only concern with him is that he looks incredibly slender and seriously needs to bulk up.

Siggy and Daws wont leave and are clogging up our system and now we are looking at a couple of 4th or 3rd rotation CBs, its not really that encouraging as we need to find some one who can dominate in that position.

Not very encouraging when you consider the movement in the clubs above us.

If we are going to compete with them we need to do more than this. Perhaps we are and we just don't know about it but we certainly need to raise the bar a bit.
