Eriksen has NEVER been a no.10, let alone it being his natural position.

We'll have to agree to disagree. He certainly isn't a winger or wide forward.

'Ajax manager Martin Jol compared him to the likes of Ajax youth products Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart and described him as a good reader of the game in the traditional "number 10" role like the two Dutch internationals and Danish legend Michael Laudrup, who also played for Ajax.[12][14]'

'On 14 September 2013, he made his Premier League debut against Norwich City, providing an assist for Gylfi Sigurðsson.[32] Spurs manager André Villas-Boas commented: "It was a great debut for Christian, he is a pure number 10, a creative player and his individual quality made all the difference."[33]"

been saying this for an age. Dont think people in this country know what attributes a number 10 needs

Good close control, an ability to move into pockets of space between the lines, eye for a forward pass/through ball, ability to shoot from distance. Think that pretty much covers it.

Sure we thought the same last season with Bale, all this spending, uncle joe finally decided to dip, we all know what happened next........ BREAK EVEN.
I don't think you grasped what Mr Pink was hopefully suggesting.

Vlaar? How we'll line up next season? Naughton? And now Eriksen?

And if you lost your access you'd squeal like a stuck pig about it.

It's not his natural position. Also you've got to assume we'll be playing the same way that Southampton did, where the players were narrow and the width given by the full backs. I'd imagine the players will be matched to the philosophy rather than the philosophy matched to the players.

We can take it into consideration, but we don't have to assume it. At Spurs, he has entirely different options available, much more resources available and desirability for potential players, and faces different defenses in how they handle playing a "big club."

Again, Eriksen only played the left last season as an emergency because it was the only way to get him the ball since we couldn't move the ball forward from deep. Sherwood lamented this lacking in our game himself. Defensively, this cost us tremendously. No need to continue going forward with our best player out of position (No 10 is clearly his natural position if you've ever watched him play for Denmark and most of his games at Ajax), and costing us defensively in the process.

It's the 'number 10' issue. Everyone assumes that a 'number 10' has to start purely from the centre. Eriksen can do all the things that a number 10 does, which he did last months of season, starting from the left and drifting in. This is what Lallana did. The fact remains Pochettino didn't play with a central number 10 last season. Lambert, Lallana and Rodriguez interchanged.

You can quote all you like, but Jol played him from the left at Ajax...he is nothing like VDV...or sneijder. He was consistantly played from the left of mid 3 or left of attacking 3. The only person i can think of that reminds me of eriksen is Nedved.

Anyway enjoy your moment...i stand by my view, as it is what i see with my eyes.

the two most important reasons why he isnt ready for the #10 role atm

Not trying to get one up, just saying what I think and I stand by my view from what I see with my eyes, think he is quite similar to VdV in terms of style and my view is supported by a number of his previous managers who have stated as such.

Why are we talking about Eriksen and if he is a no.10 or not?

Shouldn't we be debating whether Vorm is a justifiable spend or at least if he is capable of playing LB?

We need some new, non-Davies related ITK soon or I'm going to have to go to my secondary and tertiary websites for at least 3.5 - 4 minutes.

Or what Vorm actually represents.......a need for us to worry about Hugo. That ITK has scared me.

Very happy with the likely signings of Davies, Vorm and that we're also targeting Schneiderlin.

However am becoming increasingly concerned with the lack of links to quality CBs.

We can agree to disagree, but lets get thread back on point.

some new ITK would help, Has there been any ITK on GK position other than Vorm?

Fryers is more than capable to cover/push Davies. He's better than Rose now imo.
Rose has some ability but he makes terrible decisions and is rash.

Sandro, Dawson, Rose, Sigurdsson, Paulinho and Dembele could go and I wouldn't be that bothered. We've got way too many midfielders and I'd like to see the youngsters (Ceballos, Carroll and Bentaleb, Falque etc) given a proper chance.
Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho are each quality players. Thats not to say any are currently in any type of good form. But I think our chances of a good premiership year would suffer if we just moved them on.

Definitely would have thought we would hear more rumblings about CBs than we have. Other than Lovren and Laaaaaaascalles I can't recall another solid CB ITK reference. Has to be SOMETHING in the pipeline, right?
