I'm surprised there is not more ITK on outgoings... We have Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho, Eriksen, Sandro, Bentaleb, Holtby, and Carrol fighting for the same spot(s).

Surely we cannot go into a new season with 8 Central midfielders? And we're also linked with Schneiderlin...

I felt this was one of the problems last season as well - New starting 11 every week, nobody settling in and getting a run of games.

With Bentaleb and Carrol as "happy back-ups" we could offload at least two or three and maybe get 20-30 mill funding a new signing or the stadium.

There was/is no ITK linking us to Vlaar.....I think he was just on a posters wish list, who will now be on A&C's hit list

Perhaps we are waiting for either Pochettino to make his mind up who we can let go or for suitable bids to come in ?

True he probably gets more stick than is warranted, but from what I've seen I'd like to give Fredericks some first team exposure, so if any offer came in id like us to seriously consider it. Naughton just feels like he always has an error in his game somewhere

I would actually think trying to get Fredericks out on loan to a low table team or championship would be really good for him.....he is still learning the RB role and a steady run of matches will go a long way to help him learn what he is doing defensively.

I'd be very wary with those suggesting vlaar. Yes he had an outstanding World Cup but was part of a very average/poor villa team last year. He just looks shiny and new because of his World Cup performances. I would rather we looked elsewhere tbh.
He may have played in an average / poor Villa team but he was one of the few who stood head and shoulders above the other Villa players. I rated him even before the WC so his performance at the WC just confirmed his abilities. Would be a good acquisition IMO.

Carroll will go out on loan I think. If Schniederlin comes in you've got to assume Sandro is going.
Also I've said this a couple of times, I don't understand where this assumption that Eriksen will be playing in the centre has come from. Not only does Pochettino not play with a 'number 10', Eriksen's best performances both at Spurs and Ajax have been coming from left. I'd be amazed if Eriksen doesn't play the Lallana role, who starting wide left and drifted.
So basically that leaves 6 players fighting for 3 spots, which is good.

Because that's his natural position, playing with number 10s in wide areas makes a team very narrow and leaves the full back over-exposed to attacks down that flank. Also if you play one winger and one number 10 in the wide areas the team becomes unbalanced.

Eriksen has NEVER been a no.10, let alone it being his natural position.

That's where Davies, a more defensive minded LB, becomes more important than Rose's ability to bomb forward.

It's not his natural position. Also you've got to assume we'll be playing the same way that Southampton did, where the players were narrow and the width given by the full backs. I'd imagine the players will be matched to the philosophy rather than the philosophy matched to the players.
