That's exactly the same thing JJ has said on Schneiderlin yesterday...so consistent info about but nothing new in relation to Schneiderlin anyway.
But we must all remember that JJ said he expects us to sign Schneiderlin eventually...

If Poch doesn't rate Vlad the I see:

In: Dier, Lascelles, Mussacchio
Out: Vlad, Dawson

Go in season with 5 CB's, Dier and Lascelles for cup games and cover.

Yeah without doubt.

I still think we'll get Schneiderlin, but will be late on when Southampton have done most of their business and the fans somewhat appeased.

They'll release a statement saying they don't want to keep an unhappy player, as the new manager, new signings and squad have forged a good spirit heading into the new season bla bla bla...

JJ seemeed pretty confident on Musacchio so I have to think its close considering how reserved he's been on signings lately, coupled with the fact he was held out of friendly where they played their first team.

I really, really don't want us to sell Chiriches. The Musacchio link is great, know nothing about him but those that have seem to rate him. However to lose Chiriches makes no sense to me. Unless there's more to it he's yet to even have chance to be assessed. I don't see what the issue would be with having Vertonghen, Kaboul, Chiriches and Musacchio as the options. Dier as emergency and then loaned out in Jan. That choice looks far stronger than taking out either Chiriches or Kaboul.

I like Vlad but I'm not going to slit my wrists over any player Poch decides to move on (more or less anyway). Its his style of play and his judgment that counts in terms of determining who he thinks is most suitable. Also things happen behind the scenes we won't ever be privy to. For instance, Vlad being receptive to moving...even if he wouldn't mind staying etc.

All these things need to be weighed up but bottom line for me is just trusting the manager's judgement, his vision etc, as I believe he'e earned that with his achievements at Southampton.

Schneiderlin looking ever so expensive! Agent is touting him about! Dembele capoue sandro all have a price and either one of them could go to make way for MS
I just can't see him getting shot of capoue ahead of dembele, sandro or paulinho tbf. Not after capoue's pre-season form.

Paulinho
Sandro
Dembele
Capoue

I would think it'd be that selling order, knowing poch.

Completely agree, must be something behind scenes as doesn't make sense that Poch wouldn't even assess. Or he could actually be injured and his sale wouldn't come to fruition. I hope it's the latter as Vertonghen, Kaboul, Musacchio and Dier looks one short unless Dawson is staying. Lascelles I'm assuming if signed would be loaned out.

Realistically, we need 4 good centre backs that we can rely on. It's about time we started getting real about having a massive shortfall in that area:

Dawson: Bloody lovely bloke, but not a modern centre back with pace and awareness.
Kaboul: Amazing on his day, but I fear he is not going to get back to anything like that level again.
Vlad: Has been both brilliant and awful in our colours - consistency will come hopefully.
Jan: Not particularly impressive last year, but you'd hope that he will come good again this year.

I think to be completely happy in that area we would need Jan, Vlad, Mussacchio and Dier+Lascelles, keeping the better of the last two on the fringes (whilst developing) and sending the other on loan - this locks up short and long term plans. Sadly, I think both Dawson and Kaboul should go if decent bids come in.

a little bit from jasper: I don't believe Capoue will be allowed to leave unless a crazy, crazy offer is received which not likely to happen. The media have it right about Sandro, Dembele are the likely two who is at threat 'when' MS finally happens. Knowing that things change admittedly that is my understanding. Let's hope that this is the case as Capoue has been stand out. I would also be totally shocked if Holtby is loaned out, as he is seen as an interesting player,

Overall, I like that update. Losing Sandro will hurt my heart, but if it's to bring in what I see to be a better player in Schneiderlin, I'm okay with it. Schneiderlin and Capoue at the heart of our midfield sounds incredibly imposing.

Holtby is starting to show what kind of player he can be for us. This system appears to fit him absolutely perfectly. I honestly want him in the middle of our attack with Eriksen/Lamela constantly switching with him just like Soton did. Overall, we've got better players than they had to offer (especially when you take Davis into account), there's no reason why that trio can't be incredibly effective.

Now that lot makes more sense to me, especially like the bold part.

Capoue/Shiny partnership is too mouthwatering not to see happen.

IMO, Sandro will definitely be gone before the end of the window with Dembele and Paulinho given a bit of saving grace until January as they are two players who at this early stage don't have a natural fit into Poch's system.

Holtby being seen as an "interesting player" is not necessarily the most ringing of endorsements. ;)

We can't. He's not only got two years left on his, English clubs cannot do pre-contracts with rival team players.

What? Really?

That seems awfully anti-competitive? Freedom of movement of workers etc. Freedom to openly contract with who you like is a fundamental right you can't contract of, surely?

Surely?

Interesting perhaps as he played wide right at times today and looked more than capable so I'd imagine it's his versatility that is deemed 'interesting' to management.

I don't post often as I am generally browsing on my phone and suffer from fat finger syndrome, but I very concerned that both JJ and Gards have said that Capoue could be moved on if the price is right.

In my opinion not only he has been the stand out player so far this preseason, but is also ideally suited to the way that Poch is trying to get us to play. To me it seems like madness sell him when we have other players in the squad who don't appear to be a good fit for Loch's system. I just hope that it isn't a case of the money men caring more about recouping the cost of MS (if we do indeed sign him), than leaving Poch with a balanced squad that is suited to his system.

That might well happen; dembele more likely to survive though. Still can't visualize paul'o making it...and I've been trying very hard. Just don't think our style will suit him now and once poch gets a look he'll be on the 'out' list.
