Bentaleb was 1v2, often 1v3 in midfield yesterday and still came out with positives. He is a massive player for us already at 19.

Levy will be over the moon. Looks like we might have another diamond that someone will pay an extortionate amount of money to obtain

I forget this kid is only 19! He plays with such composure already and doesn't actually look like he'll have a glaring weakness to his game at all.

Thought Bentaleb and Townsend were very good yesterday. Well done to the club for bringing through some good youth. What impressed me about Bentaleb was that he actually looked like he was taking responsibility for us getting a good result, rather than just making sure he did his job ok

Just watched Schneiderlin v Liverpool. He played quite well but Bentaleb ( and some of our other midfield players) are just as good.
Prefer to play Bentaleb and save twenty million quid or whatever on a player who will actually significantly improve the team.

Fair play to the lad, he is quickly becoming a very important part of our club and is a fantastic talent.

Sherwood does deserve credit but I do think he should have pulled him out of the team earlier, when his performance dipped. He was hung out to dry for a few weeks

Just out of curiosity, how does one gauge taking responsibility? Cause to me it looked like he was going through the motions and was rarely involved or broke up play.

To me it's always wanting the ball and wanting to do something with it. Walker and Bale are the kind of players who I'd class as those who take responsibility for driving the team on in a game. Lennon would be a player who just does his role. I was worried Bentlab was one of those highly technical young players who just doesn't have the head to be a real big player, but yesterday he impressed me

Cheers for not taking my reply as snarky. Respect the direct response without the sass. :)

As for his responsibility, I respect your assessment.

The things I like: composure, 30 year old in a 19 year olds body, technique, long shot

What I don't like: weak defender and can't put in decent challenges, dembele passer for the most part, doesn't use his dribbling ability to get up the pitch and start attacks, slow to get his head up.

To me Capoue has to play. We don't need schniederlin (sp) cause to me Capoue has the range of passing is better at breaking up play.

The player next to capoue needs to be someone that can link play and quickly to our attacking front.

Bentaleb to me doesn't. He isn't looking to move the ball forward fast enough and has been my complaint of him since he came in.

As of right now, I really want to see Mason in there. He isn't the tackler we need, but he has that vision and is one touch and move the ball.

Also think holtby would be a better option. His harassing style and ability to move forward gives us more of a threat.

But I am excited about the kid, just don't think he is quite there. Ideally he would develop the tackling and break up play of capoue and Sandro and then he would be one of the best holding mids today

Decent performance and more than likely enough to keep him in the starting line-up for the next game. However, we need someone at the level of Fabregas/Toure/Modric if we want to challenge for top 4.

Bentaleb isn't a holding midfielder, so he needs to be paired with Capoue/Sandro. This means he is left with a responsibility for creativity and controlling the tempo. Hopefully one day he will be up to the task, but until then I only see him as a squad rotation player.

Certainly moved it forward fast enough to Kane on the Dier goal...

There will always be a time where it worked but for 90 minutes we weren't moving the ball forward fast enough.

There was a great difference between the way we played in the middle with Mason/Capoue then Bentaleb/Capoue.
