BEN:The reason remy is
A problem for us we are reluctant to pay 80k a week
He is on that FAct
o_OHow does he know that from up in his tree:)
I'm not a financial expert, but wouldn't an increased signing on fee cover any problems to do with the reported 80k per wk wage demands of Remy, if we really were serious about signing him.

Yup - it would be insane to pay Remy £4m pa as, at best, a rotation player.

Also, it would lead to wage inflation as better players who are first team regulars at Spurs are presumably on less, and would start asking for more cash.

Remy's just a right-sided version of Dempsey. He'd be deadwood with 12 months. Really average player.

He can run a bit faster than Dempsey and his style of play is based on pace and playing on a defender's shoulder. Dempsey always liked the ball into feet and would hit the box with late runs so Remy is the total opposite of Dempsey. Both can be very effective players in their way. They do look really alike, I'll give you that ;)

Agree with this. I don't think we have enough goals in the team with Adebayor, Kane and Soldado, but if we're looking to add those goals to the side in the LWF/RWF positions then I'd prefer we made do until January and waited to get Jay Rodriguez rather than get Remy now.

For too long though we've gone with quantity rather than quality players. Lets just wait 6 months and get a long term solution (Rodriguez).

Good point. Just pointing out how different they are but I do think we have to concentrate on quality rather than quantity now. Not just quality playing ability but quality personalities for the team.

Maybe we should just go all out on Depay, rather than wasting our efforts on Remy. Would be a much better long term (and perhaps short term) option

Just who are these "better players who are in the first team" with a better goals per game record than Remy? I can think of one.

Soldado - 29 in 60 for Getafe, 59 in 101 for Valencia.
Ade - has been 1 in 2 throughout his career (I can't bring myself to post his goon scoring record on SC).
Remy 27 in 68 for Marseilles and 1 in 2 for QPR & Newcastle.

So, I don't see much in the stats.

But my eyes tell me that both Ade and Soldado are better than Remy.

When I try to think of forwards that are least like Remy, Dempsey is right near the top of the list. Haven't got a thing in common, other than being better than average perhaps.

I'm really curious what is the other move that goes along with Remy in (if it were to happen). No way we keep four strikers, so leads me to believe that we either have a decent offer for Soldado or we are willing to loan Kane out.

Two weeks (and one day) of the transfer window left. If we don't hear a lot about both incomings and outgoings next week, I'll start to get slightly worried. I would probably go full meltdown if we had any other chairman but because of DL's reputation, I won't really ever reach that stage... (Although I nearly did when we failed to get Moutinho)

I call bullshit on Remy being on £80k pw, it just seems too high. Newcastle would've had to be paying a large chunk of that for QPR to let him go there, and I can't see Newcastle doing that. I'm sure the most they would've paid is around £50k pw and even then QPR won't be letting a player not play at their club for a whole season and still pay £30k towards him. They could have another decent player on their books for that kind of money.

I'd say he's probably on about £50-60k pw at most, and probably wants about £80k pw. I can't see us paying him that much.

Sandro on loan might not be the worst thing. We all know he's still got the talent to play at a very high level, it's just the injuries that he is constantly battling back from that keeps him from developing consistency. A loan to QPR could get him much-needed consistent minutes and should he stay healthy for most of the season, we could realistically have the real beast back or at the very least a really good commodity that could be sold for more than he is worth right now.

He still has a contract until Summer 2016, so it's not unreasonable to build the value back up a bit going into the final year of his contract if we aren't happy with the offers right now.

I think Harry wants Sandro too
Ha! That's nuts.

He never properly rated him when he was here and signed Parker but now he's in the shit looking at the stars, he's interested? Still could work well for all parties.
