Yesterday JJ said he was quite confident of us doing business. He only "passed" on the question on twitter. He didn't dismiss the likelihood.

No he didn't. He said he "expected" that MM could leave but the Seville manager is categorically saying that he is leaving them and joining us.

Now, I'm JJ's #1 supporter, but it does seem like the Fazio link isn't far-fetched at all. I suppose transfers move very quickly (like this one has) and he hadn't been updated...?
