Not held to ransom but he wants a player he has worked with before and who he trusts can be the cog of the team. He's not asking levy to go out and by messi.
AVB wanted this player in Moutino but didn't get him. Poch is entitled to his "one player" who he wants. He should be allowed that.
I'm not saying I don't like schniederlin, I do, but this attitude to signings is bogus. We are a club and the coach is one factor. We need to only buy players that fit our medium/long term football and financial remit.
If Moutinho and schniederlin do then great, if they don't then we pass.
We don't hock the clubs future for players that fit a guys philosophy who is likely to be here less time than they are.
But isn't the point that we want someone to be here 5 years?I'm not saying I don't like schniederlin, I do, but this attitude to signings is bogus. We are a club and the coach is one factor. We need to only buy players that fit our medium/long term football and financial remit.

The idea that you can just give the manager X, Y and Z players and expect him to build a team is just too analytical, and what Levy overlooks sometimes, when he moves footballers around like playing drafts.
The art of building teams - as Rodgers preaches all the time - is as much about the person, the character as much as their skillset. If Pochettino feels Schneiderlin has the personality that he can count on in difficult situations, or when the pressure is on, it is so crucial to team building.
Of course it has to fit the economic realities the club is in, but sometimes you have to back the manager's choice.
So why were we spending 30 million on the likes of Willian then?
The problem is judgement, not the amount we're spending so much.
Not only do the targets have to fit our financial remit but they have to fit our footballing remit as well - ironically enough the two are connected.
This scatter gun approach to stock piling average to decent players to then keep getting rid of them is not without its faults.
This signing smacks of being a lot more significant than your average Spurs signing. We should be doing all we can to get Poch his man, no matter if his main remit is to improve what he has. He'll be able to do that better anyway with MS in the side and the team dynamic improving and everyone benefiting as a result.
Extremely different situations that all those clubs are in. They are pretty dominant in their leagues, and can hoover up talent. Porto, have the ownership thing going too.Did Klop ever spend 25m on a single player ? Do Ajax ? Do Porto or Sevilla ? Yet these teams manage to assemble sides that can compete on a pitch with most.
Looking forward to the Levy lovers take on this if it don't happen...which to be fare doesn't look good
Seriously which bit of the phrase that soton keep spouting, ie "he is not for sale" are you having trouble with...... im no expert on football transfer activities unlike your good self, but to the uneducated, lets call it "layman", such as myself that seems like a really fucking catagoric statement for someone to make.
im not a levy lover, nor am I a levy hater either but it seems you are damning the bloke either way and will crow if he tries again and fails or chalks it up as a none winner and goes elsewhere.....
It wasn't happening the minute Southampton said on live radio he wasn't for saleLooking forward to the Levy lovers take on this if it don't happen...which to be fare doesn't look good
I agree we should of tried earlier in the windowIt wasn't happening the minute Southampton said on live radio he wasn't for sale
I agree and we've wasted and are continuing to waste our time on this transfer when there is NO FUCKING CHANCE of it happening!Seriously which bit of the phrase that soton keep spouting, ie "he is not for sale" are you having trouble with...... im no expert on football transfer activities unlike your good self, but to the uneducated, lets call it "layman", such as myself that seems like a really fucking catagoric statement for someone to make.
