Just my opinion that when we have two strikers good things happen whichever formation they play as pointed out yes Bobby was off field etc and it became a different game thankfully and Mason scored a cracker looked good .As long as we win thats all matters:)

All I know is one striker came on which made it two strikers and two strikers scored and won the game ermmm perhaps should watch the game then.
Would love to have watched the game, unfortunately I am at work. Is Kane a striker? Plays more like a forward to me.

The thing is that I hope he has the strength of character to progress and I am not ashamed to say it, but there may be a very good player in there. He has been played out of position a lot and more often than not he has a decent performance. Decent may not be good enough for some, but in the context of the toxic atmosphere often found at The Lane that's good enough. Dare I say it, but I think he reads the game better than Walker.

He's also one of our best passes. He played most of the decent balls in behind tonight

Or was it when the anonymous Paulinho was replaced? I just don't think 442 is the answer to our problems and I definitely wouldn't be playing it against Arsenal.
We are away against Arsenal. They will not be lined up defensive at the start-but last term they spent almost the whole game defensive-I dunno...

Usually plays as a no 10 or a striker, as we were 1-0 down when he and Masson came on, think Poch had given Kane instructions to play as far forward as possible and the same with Mason - who's always had a great shot on him, so tonight's goal was always a possibiliity

First game I've been to for over a year. Was in the south stand and we made some noise but the rest of the stadium was slilent which is a shame :( For the first 70 mins it was like the weekends game all over again. Pass it sidways, pass it back, pass it sideways again. God it was dire! Subs seemed to change it. At least we had a go in the last 20 and left with a smile.

Other than his goal, what impact did Kane have on the play?

I just want to enjoy watching the game- I was not enjoying it until Kane came on.
I don't care really if it was 4-4-2 or whatever.

We may not need to lineup in a 442 per se, but having two out and out strikers on the pitch is what we need, as individually ours are not good enough -that is a fact

Surprising that poch hasn't played it from the start in a game yet, even though he did it at soton with Rodriguez

This is what frustrates me about him. He has the raw tools to be a very good player but he doesn't have it between the ears - at the moment anyway.

This is the way I'd sum him up - his first thought is always about getting into a position to shoot, nearly always anyway.

.

I was just discussing this with a mate. He is infuriating to watch - mainly because he is so good at beating a man and creating space for himself. All teams would pay a lot for that type of player. But his end product is woeful. Sometimes it comes off, most of the time it doesn't. At the same time he is young, and needs games. Under a different shirt no doubt we would be envious of him. In our shirt, as any player, yeah you get the point!

We were terrible tonight. Our squad is so lacking in quality it hurts.

G Nev was quoted as saying that Utd need to spend another hundred mill to compete for the title, and that's the kind of money we'd have to spend just to get us ready to compete for top four again. Shame we wasted roughly 70 percent of that figure on utter dross last summer.

I think tonight has shown that we're going to struggle against any team that sits deep and hits us on the break. We don't have the quality to break teams down easily. We seemed short of ideas. We may do better against better sides who will allow us to play a bit.

Barcelona played Malaga away tonight. They had 70% possession and didn't manage to get one shot on target in 95 minutes with a team that included Iniesta, Neymar and Messi.

Teams have sussed us out. Pearce said they came to sit back and counter attack and it nearly worked. Liverpool did us easily with the same tactics yet they are now suffering exactly the same. It's far easier to defend. Without a Modric or a Bale we're gonna suffer a lot more this season. I'm hoping Lamela can be our new Modric, if not it's going to be a long season.
