Good win, however, yet again our defence got torn apart a few times. We need to invest in a central defender and a central striker.

Not going to put too much thought on tonight's game. I'm desperate to see us win a trophy so happy we got the points and are as good as through.

I thought Townsend did OK against Villa and looked good tonight.

Every game is a chance for Poch to identify our weaknesses and what we need to work on. I hope to see Dier centre back soon as he is clearly struggling as a full back.

What are the rules if we were to finish identical or is that impossible?

This from the UEFA competion rule :

7.05 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of all the group
matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in
descending order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams
in question;
c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
d) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches
played among the teams in question;
e) if, after having applied criteria a) to d), teams still have an equal ranking,
criteria a) to d) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the
teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does
not lead to a decision, criteria f) to h) apply;
f) superior goal difference from all group matches played;
g) higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
h) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question,
as well as its association, over the previous five seasons (see
paragraph 9.03).

Now you work it out. I'm not in the mood !

We had 200 fans there.. we had 4000+ fans at Prague for our first European game for a long time v Slavia in 2006.
We are getting comfortably numb and I think the players are too?

The problem is that successive teams, under successive managers, don't seem to grasp the importance of movement and hard work both with and without the ball. With it we often see, static players not offering an option for the man on the ball, players bunched together, no width, and fullbacks not recognising when they need to get forward. Without it we are so open and easy to play through, players are reactive and so have to chase the ball rather than proactive in putting in the hard yards and getting back in to some sort of defensive structure. Players need to show a lot more but it's crying out for some direction from the Manager, about how and what runs he wants each individual to make and how this compliments the rest of the team. Hard work and constantly moving around with purpose needs to be drilled into them.
I think they do why is it not happening though?

I thought Andros played better today than he has for quite some time. Eriksen was invisible, Soldado did very little again, Lamela was poor and our defense oh dear God in heaven, our defense!

I don't think they do in some cases, we haven't had good enough tacticians. Also I think we have had managers unwilling to rock the boat and kick serious arse, for some reason they have tried the softly softly approach. But saying that you get Sherwood doing the opposite and he gets stick as well. You also have to factor in what the board let the manager do and what he gets to implement.

I do think a lot of it is though that for all these managers who say they do long days at the training ground etc, too many of them don't have a great understanding and grasp of the game/analysis of it. They just get by doing what they know, stick to the same plans etc.

Except AVB had a much better points record in the league and in Europe despite the squad being brand new.

No he is right. That game tonight was a copy of the Sheriff game last year. Then we somehow kept a clean sheet, this time we almost did. Two completely undeserved results though.

We are due a good team performance. Obviously there are a couple of players at the club who are either coasting or more interested in themselves looking good than the team looking good.

Both matches were played on crap pitches, however the Sherriff game was obviously at a venue on a Jovian moon!
